Man you got a fish monster? The cheese monster was bad enough.

AI could be a few orders of magnitude more useful than it is now and I still wouldn't use it because I don't trust the people on the other end of the chain.

This is not a debate about efficacy for me, it's a matter of trust. Easy for NVIDIA to tell their employees to run their AI. But I can't afford to trust an agent of a corporation to integrate itself into my life in that way.

Oh they're starting to get panicky I think. This bubbles going to burst hard.

It's unfortunately going to hurt the most vulnerable in cost of living. All billionaires and corporations need to be culled.

Altman and gates had come out to "sound the alarm" its definitely sooner rather than in a few years.

Yes, but he IS turning profit. LOADS of profit.

he's raking money now, but his continued success depends on his customers turning profit from ai, and buying his chips forever, and what cannot continue has to stop. vc money can't paper over this financial burn pit indefinitely

5

all of these brainrot as a service chatbots are subsidized by vc at 10x rate give it or take, it's not economical to use them now even for things like call center and definitely won't be after vc money dries out. massive influx of cash into capex by the same just papers over recession that you out there already have and graduate unemployment is one of its facets that isn't masked this way

Yes, but he IS turning profit. LOADS of profit.

We need to wait a few months to achieve AGI, which will tell us how to use it to generate infinite profit.

2

Wow, I'm certifiably loony in this case! As I don't rely on AI to do anything for me, as my brain is fully functional and allows me to make conscious decisions that aren't hallucinated.

It makes sense that a company that has devoted so many resources to AI development is trying to get its workers to integrate it in their work flows; it's free training and will make their Torment Nexus potentially less cumbersome when they finally divest more human workers and increase unemployment rates for tech sector workers. The fact that Google is also pushing for it is worrying, as I did plan on moving back to Android; I'll likely avoid a lot of Google made apps in that case, since Samsung seems to not be on the Vibe Coding Train, I'll use most of theirs instead. Even though, it will likely be a shitshow given how ineffective such tools actually are and why skeptical, skilled humans are necessary to make generated code work reliably. I hope that this hurts Nvidia as a brand.

34

OK. Cool. Let me know when we get actual a.i. instead of whatever the fuck you're peddling right now.

29

Something I learnt from very early age. If a corporation wants you to do something, for your own good, don't.

23

Pickaxe seller says you’re insane if you don’t join a gold rush in a fully exhausted area

22

ohhhhhhh this is a big indication that people should not be using AI

when has a corporation saying "use our tech or you are dumb and your life must suck" ever been true?

You could not convince me that these shit heads are actually using this crap for anything. They’re so entirely full of shit.

17

He’s right. His workers and their livelihoods absolutely depend on prolonging the bubble. what will happen to ai/nvidia stock prices if retail investors start to realize that even the people who stand to financially gain from ai adoption still don’t want to use it? Those workers are going to blow the scam that feeds their families. insane.

It's true. The thing is, we used to starve them, it helps limit their insanity, this is where the trope of the starving artist comes from. Letting these creative people on the borderline of insanity gain access to billions of dollars has pushed them over the edge. They have completely lost it, their insanity is spiraling out of control. This was a terrible mistake. They must be bankrupted, for their own good.

I don't know, they're pretty creative when it comes to squeezing the populace and the planet for profit.

You know, the same way Buffulo Bill's skin suit was a creative outlet.

I think they just started out with a lot of advantages and copy each others' homework.

It's like saying someone is good at video games because they can win on easy mode with cheats.

4

AI, please create a new Nvidia corporate logo, taking strong design cues from the Enron logo.

11

See the coffiezilla video on his second channel.(voidzilla) where he talks about nvidia and enron. Nvidia isnt like enron, they are more like cisco during the dotcom bubble :)

In short : nvidia has something ( infrastructure ) while enron had nothin except baked air. Cisco during the dotcom bubble also had infrastructure, and was pushing hard to sell that, but when the bubble popped they had hardware but not use for it anymore

4

You know, German has a word—Fremdschämen—that means feeling embarrassment on behalf of someone else (someone else you don't even know and who is oblivious to your embarrassment on their behalf). I think about that word a lot when watching degenerative AI fans babble about "their" writing or "their" art.

Nvidia CEO says you're "Insane" If you don't outsource the act of thinking to AI owned by big tech assholes.

9

You jest, but chatbots are essentially that. Don't doubt for a second that as soon as it becomes viable to satisfy users physically like that they won't hop on that train immediately and slap a subscription on it.

Insane? What an idiot. He clearly thinks everything is digital.

4

Perhaps he believes people resisting will cause the bubble to pop sooner rather than later.

1

This is just marketing. It's not aimed at us anyway, we're not setting up antire data centres to run AI.

4

That's a bold angle of attack.

But it loses its effectiveness when it sounds a bit shrill.

What was that he was saying the other day about not being another Enron?

3

I guess the joke was too subtle.

Nvidia CEO - "You should use AI for everything!"

Me: "Great, here's AI telling you that's a stupid fucking idea."

lemmus.org

Yikes this is an extremely one sided opinion piece. Valid criticism loses its edge when any hope of objectivity leaves the chat. Let's step back.

Imagine this for a minute. There's a ficticous company that makes gold mining equipment. There are workers at this company that are very public about their views on shortcomings of gold. Maybe even loud about the fact that it's not the end-all be-all. The workers refuse to invest their futures on the success of gold and encourage others not to as well. The CEO hears about this. Should the CEO commend them?

-2

So you're saying it's like a pizza place, where the employees also wear pink shirts, but the CEO is a crocodile? Interesting.
