Being a massive alcoholic doesn’t inherently make him a massive prick.

Being a massive prick makes him a massive prick.

Meant more that it both contributed significantly to his death via liver failure, and to exacerbating his personality, which, like you say is what made him an asshole.

Bruh I barely do and I'm a 25 year old techy. I'm sorry, you're old.

I'm in my 30s, it's a call that gets collected.

you dial a set of numbers before the number you want to call and it all gets collected with the trash when the ASL garbage truck comes to pick it up

I only know it from American movies, because it was never a thing were I live.

How about September 10th, when 2.3 Trillion dollars were announced missing...

... Or what happened the very next day.

I thought that was more of an issue with bad accounting software, not simply "missing" money.

They were also not announced on the tenth, they were mentioned on the tenth, after being announced in February 2020

That movie crashed box office records and left a giant crater where Disney princess movies used to be. What else that year could be more impactful?

the best advice that I ever got
Was from my sister's rock star boyfriend.

Just get you a guitar and learn how to play
Cut up some jeans, come up with a name
When you're living in a world that you don't understand
Find a few good buddies, start a band

For me it is trippy to know that all the little kids I looked after when I was 20 are now 20 themselves.

I did my first babysitting gigs at age 13, in 2002.

I vividly remember playing dolls with my neighbor’s daughter. She just had her first baby about a month ago.

Sometimes I forget how old I am. Then I do something like “going too long without eating,” or “sleeping on the same side for too long” and it’s like my body full-on revolts against me. Sigh.

I feel you. I'm born in '87, but I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.

Ha, guess you're not a LotR fan then. It's one of the phrases from the book that folks quote often, I think mainly tongue in cheek, because it's phrased a little funny. But it definitely carries meaning for sure.

there are children being born whose PARENTS were not alive when Shrek (2001) came out.. Crazy how the years start coming and they simply do not stop coming

Wow. I remember seeing Shrek with my mom in 2001. I also saw Finding Nemo with her in theaters. I love my mom. I haven't given her any grandchildren though. To her dismay. But she loves me unconditionally. Moms are the best. No one understands love better than them.

Wait till our descendants will refer to 90s as ancient times of the Internet.

6

The new grads at work already do this. Bunch of gen zs who categorize themselves by who was both in the 90 vs 00s

3

Wait... Shrek came out 24 years ago? Not five?

Welp, looks like I got more than one foot in the grave.

Who would have thought.

I was in my 20s when Shrek came out. I've still never seen any of them. Maybe I'll get around to it one of these days.

Kind of overrated IMO, one of those films with 100 "pop culture" references and a lot of slapstick.

But lots of people liked it so what do I know.

Shrek 2 , I feel has a special place in Hollywoo history along side the first Scary Movie. They are very accurate pop culture time capsules. The first shrek was yet another giant middle finger to Disney from Katzenberg, they are all very much products of their time.

It was definitely a milestone at the time. At least for me, personally, it was the first “kids’ movie” I saw that was chock full of “adult” jokes (that I understood.)

Granted, I grew up with Rocko’s Modern Life, Animaniacs, and other shows that had hidden jokes for the parents. But as far as movies went? Shrek was groundbreaking for me.
