ICE should have no authority over US citizens. We need to Stand Our Ground and use our constitutional rights to defend ourselves against fascist thugs.

88

They legit don't. Say you're a US citizen and their only actual legal option is to fuckoff unless they see a felony committed in their presence which is quite honestly the same enforcement ability you and I have as plain citizens.

21

Lol...constitution...good one. That's no longer legible under Donald's shit stain.

Because the second you pull that trigger, your life is over. If you don't have an organized movement to back you up (we don't) you're fucked if you start shooting. Anyone who depends on you for care or income or support is fucked. Organizing an antifascist militia in a post-COINTELPRO America is really fucking hard, even in places where the bootlickers are few and the guns are many.

So exactly the same consequences as if they deport you to El Salvador.

9

Yeah but they're not going after the hard targets yet. Not until there's nobody left to stand up for you.

Fear leads to anger (something that can be seen boiling in Lemmy and other social media sites), anger leads to hate . . . ah, well, you kow the rest.

No. It was about the balance of power of states vs the federal government. It also doesn't work for that either.

Nooo. That would be an excuse by the Trump Administration to declare Martial Law, and then he could prevent the mid-term elections from happening.

What people I talk to agree on, is that as long as no mass attacks happen, what you are seeing is a ton of police action that does not meet the standards for qualified immunity.

With Trump, you don't want to meet him head on, but you meet him in a court, because that is where he is weakest.

Also, those brownshirts are going to discover just how disposable they are - just like the ones in the Third Reich were - after the mid-term elections.

"we can't resist or they'll... checks notes ... do all the stuff they're doing anyway"

lol

Damn I missed the marines mass murdering protesters and the suspension of elections.

What dimension do you get your news from? Clearly this one isn't as exciting as it could be

the fantasy of justice

I remember having similar fantasies during the W. Bush administration. "Surely, when Democrats get into power these egregious war criminals will face justice in the courts!"

Being a lesser evil voter in this country is probably the logical choice, but it is also signing up for a lifetime supply of "fell for it again" awards.

Your comparison to the brownshirts is correct- most rank and file brownshirts were never prosecuted.

10

We have to settle for the "lesser evil" because we wait until the final contest to finally make a choice.

There is a plenitude of opportunities to make our voices heard before the Tuesday after the first Monday every four years. And to better forge our future to be more than the "lesser of two evils".

The problem isn't that we have too much participation, it's that we have too little. This wouldn't change if we used a different method of participation. Be it peaceful protest, violent revolution, or some other option. It requires that a population be involved in decision making of their own future. Far more often then once every few years.

If you don't live here, maybe don't get your facts from our propaganda mill media system.

I'd post all the shit going on with people fighting ICE, but I just don't have the energy any longer. I'm already spending way too much time dealing with Trump supporters. That's where people like you land right now... You're spreading bullshit just like them.

Go join ICE if you want to spread misinformation, at least then you'll get paid.

8

Yet you are talking about and actually noticed those protests. Almost as if that was the point....

Additionally the administration is trying to incite violence. That's a golden ticket to use the military to violently crush opposition. This country spends more money on the military than any other country in the world. It can boots on the ground anywhere on the planet within 24hrs. Now imagine its domestic capabilities.

People online are always so brave proclaiming when you should pick up a gun and go die in a revolution. But when the time comes and you still have a full belly, a place to live, and a family to care for you too would find it pretty god damn difficult to go and die in a war.

9

They're telling others online to just simply start a war and go die. They're doing their part citizen

5

Unless it's by the police against the brown people in your neighbourhood, right? Because that's what a good, god-fearing, freedom loving first world country does. Without repercussions.

13

lol America is a third world shithole where a big chunk of your people are in poverty, because all the money is going to your terrorist war machine. Last thing I wanna hear from an American is a lecture on morality

I'm not a gun guy, but that seems incredibly reckless. Seems like there's lots of room for human or mechanical error when you've got the barrel pointed at someone and you're whacking it against a hard surface. Pretty unlikely something like that falls within firearms safety best practices.

40

Gun person, and you're correct; incredibly reckless. For the most part, AR platform weapons are drop safe (meaning an impact will not set it off). But depending on factors such as brand, firing pin material, or cartridge primer hardness, an impact to the end of the muzzle can cause a discharge.

Pretty unlikely, but extremely unsafe. No one with real training would do this. These are deputized dumbasses.

53

The trial should me quick.

A gang of unidentified masked armed violent men? if that's not self defence then what tf is?

even Trump FBI says they should identify themselves.

I guess she's one of those very dangerous criminals, you know the type to point weapons at American People, and rape children, and steel from the poor etc... /S

18

steel from the poor

Don't give the rich any ideas about making steel out of poor people.

The iron content is poor and even after smelting is notoriously lacking in work ethic. Too brittle. You want to start off with quality American iron, like a Carnegie or J.P. Morgan.

5

Because with this many it's a death sentence. Like more power too you if you're that guy, but generally people like to continue breathing

28

Telling an authoritarian "no" shuts their pea-brain down. After that they're full attack dog.

14

There's far worse stuff going on but there is a subtle thing I want to point out: the agent didn't have to break that window. I can't imagine they considered these women a threat, and yet they still made the choice to break through the window that had the potential to cause the most harm to these innocent until proven guilty American citizens. Why not a rear window? I think that says something about how their personal desire for violence is leading here. Fuck them.

11

You reached the end
