As in: You cooked lunch or got take out? For me either could apply.

I've been getting Dental work done recently, and it's across the street from a harbor freight, so after each appointment I've been going there and buying a tool or two. Just bought a flex head ratchet yesterday.

It's better than buying fast food i tell myself, which I've stopped doing for the most part. (If I'm out and about with people, or there's something limited time that I want to try sure, but otherwise i haven't bought any in a couple months)

People often shit on HF but their hand tools are perfectly acceptable for the average home mechanic, and hell honestly fine for a lot of professionals with their new Icon linea. Even their power tools have gotten pretty good lately. They'll last you many years, tools are always a good investment.

A pair of boots. Never owned one before. I can finally splash on puddles like in the movies

I went for a run yesterday because I was feeling miserable. It really helped. Today I made 2 big pizzas from scratch.

I got a mechanical keyboard after researching a ton on which one I wanted. second-hand, so I was a bit restricted to what was offered. I'm getting a Keychron V5 Max, which I'm then going to mod with some new keycaps, a tape-mod and possibly filling it up with foam. The YouTube channel Hipyo Tech has been on the top of my YouTube binge list the last few weeks.

The only "problem" with buying a nice mechanical keyboard is that you never need to buy another one.

Great keyboard, what switches are you using? Their browns are my fav switch

2

Just the ones that come with it, for now... I'm watching the online second hand market place of my country for offerings of switches, as I don't want to spend too much. And it's better for the environment, too! I've heard pretty much all keycaps by the HMX brand are good, so that's what I have a search alert for.

3

Damn, that's a nice treat. I'm no purist but, wow, typing on a good switch/keyboard combo is a real comfy joy. I love blue switches, or the buckling spring ones from the old IBM planks. I tried a friends 25-different-switches try-out board and found out that there might be switch types I like even more! Maybe I'll look around again if this Ducky One (3) keyboard ever dies, but I wasn't counting on that happening :)

A 36€ m710q Thinkcentre tiny.

You know, as a backup for my m710q Thinkcentre tiny.

Why do I search for that and only find it between $200 and $1000? Granted it's AUD but still, where do you find this for less than a rpi?

2

On ebay.fr, no power block but otherwise complete. Mostly they go for more like 60-70€ shipping included, but sometimes you get lucky!

I did well on a couple interviews today so I walked down to the local cafe and had a chai latte and a maple bar.

Tomorrow, if I do well on that interview, I'll go walk downtown and get lunch at the local thai restaurant I like!

9

Thank you very much! One of them is definitely shaping up to be quite promising. :)

Congrats on the interviews! Food and beverages are one of my favorite 'treat yourself' categories.

4

Thank you! And definitely the same for me. Just like my cat, I am very food driven.

Okay, so, Monday I went to 2 thrift shops and 2 pawn shops because we weren't able to that weekend. I ended up spending around $50USD on 5 games.

First lawn shop I got Jak 1-3 on PS2 alongside final fantasy X on PS2 for a little over $20 at one pawn. I've 100%ed the first Jak years ago and was part way through Jak 2 when I lost my console and games. Same way I lost FFX with my partway completed save.

Then at the other pawn shop I got PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal and Crash Bandicoot Twinsanity for around $27, I think. Would need to check receipt, if I still have it.

All games I used to have and enjoy. All I gotta do is see if there is a way to unlock PS3 DLC for free without system mods because I don't think my brother would be too keen on his systems being modded.

Bought the Lego Game Boy two weeks ago. Haven't played with Legos in a long long time, since I was a kid. But this was a really fun set to put together.

7

I got my nails done. I’ve only had fake nails once, but I went to a wedding and I wanted to look nice. I got gel nails in dark blue with a cat eye finish. The ladies at the salon were super helpful and picked out a good color that matched my dress. It was awesome, but I don’t regularly pay $85+ for something that only lasts 2 weeks. I’ll get them removed in a week and get a basic manicure to help my nails recover.

They do look pretty fabulous though 💅

7

A really nice new hoover. I'm allergic to dust and every time I hoovered I'd keep sneezing for like half an hour after turning it off and emptying the bag. The new one I just pour water in a little tank and empty it out without creating a dustcloud.

I'm slowly allowing myself to eat more after a long history of dealing with an ED :)

7

You can't fool me. You're just trying to offload your pancake surplus! (I'll take three stacks please...)

2

Bought a game called Slay. It's one of the most elegant turn-based games I've ever seen. Xisuma made a video series about it. Highly recommend watching the first video if that sort of thing interests you.

I splurged recently on a china cymbal for my drum kit! It's pretty exciting, I haven't upgraded my kit in ages.

Good for you! Sounds like it was about time. Hope you make the most out of it. :)

Upgraded my pc that had been running with the same specs since 2013 (except a 2016 GPU), and bought oblivion remastered. Any recommendations for the first playthrough? (No spoilers please)

There's a special house (anvil), you should try and finish that quest early for an epic payoff :). Have fun, hero of Kvatch!

My bröther in beans, you're gonna give yourself a hemorrhoid if you sit on the bowl too long.

2

I appreciate the PSA. I might add:

To avoid developing hemorrhoids while seated, minimize pressure on the anorectal vasculature by limiting toilet time to less than 5-10 minutes and avoiding straining with defecation. Prolonged sitting increases intra-abdominal and rectal venous pressure, leading to vessel engorgement and possible displacement of the anal cushions. Additionally, adopting a supported-squat posture (knees elevated above hips with a footstool) can straighten the anorectal angle, reducing the physiological "kink" created by the puborectalis muscle and facilitating easier, less strained evacuation.

To put it in layman's terms. And totally not AI.

£10 ear buds, my 10yr old ones kind of still work but don't disconnect when they go back in the charger so are frustrating as hell. Worth it

Literally right now, my daughter and I split an ice cream cookie sandwich after a long day of cleaning. It's the simple things.

I bought a bambino plus espresso machine with a vs3 grinder!

Will be fun to get real coffee at home.

4

That’s amazing. I’m on my own espresso journey. Even knowing all the theory going in, consistent execution can be elusive.

Good luck to you and cheers to great coffee at home.

2

I bought a new soldering iron, though I had a few before this. They were usually the cheapest I could find. This time however I splurged a bit and bought one with temperature control.

I got a personal mixer for band practice, so I can mix my own voice monitor-audio louder then the band without touching the main mix. I had this setup working with more cables and a larger mixer, now it's just 2 cables and the mixer clips to my belt. Glorious, less hassle, more jamming and it all fits in 1 bag now!

4

I like the ease of use! As a vocalist I felt in control with minimal effort and movement restriction was not bad. Live performance might be a bit too restricted in movement, lugging around an extra cable. I needed the XLR to Jack converters in our setup and it was a bit crowded on the main mixer, but nothing game breaking. Should bring different converters next time. I love singing with very good monitoring and this made me able to do that with little effort and a small kit footprint. I think this is the way for me.

We added Man in the Mirror to our repertoire, more piano songs, yay!

1

Bought some lavender bubble bath and had a 2 hour hot bath with a book and relaxing music.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 bundle for the Switch 2. Partly a treat for me, partly for my kids. I want them to play it like I did when I was a kid. 😊 Although the games look so much better on a 65" OLED than they did on my thicc TV back in the day. But that's okay. I'm enjoying the updated graphics too. It doesn't take away from the experience.

4

I bought a tv to use as a monitor and have been getting all the bits and bobs together to make it work well.

3

I've been desiring to get back into videography as a hobby for a few years now. And after I upgraded my smartphone to a Galaxy S23+, which has greater camera sensors than my previous Pixel 2, I knew it was time to get myself a phone gimbal. I chose to go with the Hohem iSteady M7. It's got a learning curve to it that I wasn't expecting, really. So I'm still better learning and remembering how to use it still. Should be fun though, in a month from now.

3

Nothing. Literally nothing. My wife have been on necessities only all year. Mmmm. I mean since junk food is cheap a few things there. kitchen sink cookies. they actually have a very good price per ounce.

3

I bought a plasma cutter and a GPU. In the past I would get used GPU from eBay because it's cheaper but the demand for them has made the market a little crazy and there's very little price difference new vs used (UK). The price performance sweet spot seems to be AMD 9070xt (£550, ouch).

The plasma cutter is an old three phase machine that no one wanted because it's 400V. However, looking at the circuit diagram there's very little difference between single and 3-phase configuration so the plan is to convert it to a domestic supply or cannibalise the internals and torch assembly.

I bought a silly game that just launched called Escape From Duckov. Played it for three hours straight! It's kinda addicting.

3

I literally did the exact same thing. Never played an extraction shooter before and it was a spontanous purchase. Did not regret it.

2

Pasta roller. Not a super fancy one. Made some whole wheat pasta yesterday with some pesto from a friends basil garden.

3

My girlfriend and I had a weekend vacation based on food, wine, weed, walking in the woods and a night at the observatory for a guided stargaze. Wasn't cheap but we really needed it.

2

Ordered some nice handmade leatherworking knives.

The irony of it is that I accidentally sliced off a sliver of fingertip the other day with my current one. Damn things are like miniature guillotines, but if nothing else, it's a testament to my ability to sharpen a round knife
