Has anyone had luck or tried emulating Guitar Hero?
I just heard Heart's Crazy on You and was thrown back to guitar hero, and wondered if anyone has tried emulating it?

Should work, configure your emulator for performance rather than graphics though to get the best responsiveness.
That said, if you haven't already, look into Clone Hero. Modern guitar hero port with a huge community and lots of custom tracks available. It's awesome.
Yeah clone hero is pretty sick. It can do drums too, and you can get it to work with a real electronic kit

YARG is another good alternative if you want full band support. Also it's FOSS to boot.
+1 to Clone Hero. Huge community making thousands of custom songs and packs. I think all of the games have been ported into CH at this point. Extensive controller support too. I have an old PS4 Rock Band Bluetooth controller I use to play sometimes!

Workaround: NTSC widescreen patch mostly fixes this issue (a small part of digits is still not visible). Currently no workaround for 4:3 or PAL.

Audience graphics corrupted & blurry band members
Description: The audience may have corrupted sprites in certain parts of any song and/or the band member can be seen slightly blurry when using any hardware renderer with GSdx.
Workaround: Use a software renderer instead. Beware this might reduce the emulation performance significantly if you don't have a powerful enough processor for the task.
I think you should consider Guitar Hero World Tour: Definitive Edition. It's a massive community mod on the original, adding songs from almost any other guitar hero ever released. Some glitch a bit and you don't get the full character performance, as they seem to kinda chill with generic animation while playing the track, but others is just full guitar hero show. I got a (not very cheap) aliexpress guitar a pretty much like the one your linked, and it has worked me very well for a few years.
Rock Band 3 works great on RPCS3 and the fantastic Deluxe mod is fully supported there
Used to use Dolphin to play the Wii version of guitar hero 3. Worked pretty well
I remember back in the day there was a Linux game Frets on Fire, that had you strumming your keyboard
Clone hero works well though the wammy bar done work for me through the ps2 usb adapter
I used to play the PC version of Guitar Hero 3 on Windows. It worked great once I force disabled vsync. Also could drop in modded songs, I had all the GH1 and GH2 songs in mine. Never tried it on Linux though. You're probably better off with Clone Hero these days.
Yep, you can emulate, it does work, but there is a better option. Clone Hero works better, has lower performance requirements, supports all of the songs from all of the games, has great peripheral support, and has a whole community of people making modern songs available.
I would also recommend looking into a RetroCult controller mod if you really get into it. Quite a fun electronics project and suitable for someone with limited experience as it has been made very easy and only includes a little bit of soldering and cutting away a little bit of the case.
