For me it's about conservation of species. Many whales are still endangered and "a handful of shitty people" is all it takes to kill them unfortunately.
While animal cruelty in farms is a real issue, conservation of wildlife is infinitely more important IMO.
That being said, there are also sharks and cephalopods that are endangered :(
Now I need to watch the Star Trek The Motion Picture, Star Trek The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek The Search for Spock, Star Trek The Voyage Home and Star Trek The Undiscovered Country all over again. It's only been like four or five months since last time. Can't be helped.
