Lemmy clients with multi-account support should allow you to lock your self to one vote for your group of alts.

that seems like a really good idea. I've had a discussion with someone we temporarily banned for upvoting their own content where they likely resorted to blocking their alt other account to prevent themselves from doing this. depending on the implementation, it could even be something like auto-detecting all the accounts you use and just warning you when voting to confirm you want to upvote content by another of your accounts, with a setting to disable these prompts or exclude certain accounts from it.

Vote multiple times. It doesn't matter. Ever since I've joined Lemmy, I've been throwing out up votes like candy because they're free, and they make people feel nice.

I don't tend to use any other accounts, but when I do, I just mass up vote shit without a second thought.

That’s a good way to get banned from instances.

Ouch that would’ve hurt.

I got banned from the Linux.community without explanation where they deleted all my posts and when I asked politely what happened I received no response…

The worst part was that I was on friendly terms with the admin before this happened.

So instead of bots it's just a few of us with multiple accounts?

(Not that I do that. I'm old school. That shiz used to get you banned)

I don't think there's anything wrong about occasionally accidentally upvoting a post twice using an alt.

Making a habit out of it could be a problem, but as long as its a genuine mistake backed up by the accounts voting logs I don't see a problem with it

Irelephant was caught voting 4 times on the same content.

That's not what I'm talking about in this though.
I did do it once intentionally on a post, but that was a mistake (mistake as in I shouldn't have done it), and I removed the votes.

This is more about juggling alts in general.

This just reminded me to not take upvotes or downvotes seriously, thank you.

Is something wrong with my internet connection or something wrong with the threadiverse?! Why can't I find the title of this post?? Why??!

I can't even select it. It is so weird...

inspecting the webpage, I see the title is made up of four zero-width spaces (\u200b is the unicode).

Here's what it looks like in the web tools:

Here they are in a code block:

This is some dedication to literally nothing! Thank you for this technical explanation.

I couldn't think of a title, so I put several invisible unicode characters as the title instead.

I feel better to hear that. I felt that my understanding of the threadiverse was breaking away. Very nice effect. Very freaky but also very nice.

Sorry, I didn't mean it in a way to picture you in a bad way, just wanted to point out that votes can have consequences

I saw that thread from earlier. Recursive chewed you up good.

This is why we shouldn't have downvotes IMO.

Edit: oh no...
