There's no fucking way he knows what either of those words mean, he has a 3rd grade vocabulary.

I thought Congress controlled the pursestrings.

Are people just rolling over and taking this?

Sure. And when the treasury doesn't send them more money because Trump said so what then?

Riots in the streets because Wait! Wait! Dont’t Tell Me ran out of funding.

But I need to hear the silky smooth Bill Curtis every week.

My local NPR station has already sent an email out to all it's underwriters and sponsors about this threat.

I would say that every public radio station has little faith in Congress at this point. Having worked myself in public radio for several years, I would say that their concern is completely justified.

I'll be increasing my donation this month. And the next.

Take any one of Trump's actions alone 20 years ago and he would have been impeached, now its just Friday.

This is project 2025 to the T. They know exactly what they're doing, and have poured lots of money into this plan.

Yeah, except defunding public broadcasting, and undermining media is step two in an authoritarian play book. Seems to be accelerating their attacks on democracy from here. Buck up.

Yeah but legally Congress allocates funds. This isn't binding (yeah yeah I know, none of these people care about the law)

This isn't legally binding, but that won't stop the DOGE teenagers from walking into their office and start dismantling it.
And the employees will stand by, muttering "this can't be legal" under their breath.
Then a judge will rule that it wasn't legal, the ruling will be ignored, and by then 30 other things like this will have happened, too.

Hmm, I wonder if there are any historical examples we can turn to to examine the outcomes when a government dismantles publicly funded and managed media...
