Today (31/8/25) I have made the tough decision to block the site for UK users. The broad and yet vague rules around the OSA make enforcement for a Lemmy Instance of my size virtually impossible. I'm sorry to anyone this may effect, but it was a step I felt I needed to take to protect the site as well as myself.

Updating the instance to 0.19.12 so let me know if you see anything weird.. Just kidding for some reason the site gets wonky and nothing loads, back to 0.19.11 for now.

EDIT 20/09/2025 - Well apparently Lemmy release 0.19.13 does the same thing, slow loading requiring a page refresh for every page which makes things like comments and logging in impossible. I'm not sure if it's a weird caching bug or what. I did break the database/instance for several days in my pursuit to "fix" it. Sorry!

I have set the set the instance to "private" so you cannot read it without logging in. This is an effort to stop AI bots from hammering the server. If you see anything else weird please let me know.

I updated to 0.19.10 like two weeks ago when it released and noticed I never posted anything about it. I haven't seen anything weird or seen any news about strange gremlins, so I'm guessing no news is good news. =)

It's once again that time of year that I dread, well, partly. I find the holidays very draining with the high energy/high emotions surrounding EVERYTHING this time of year. And if you're anything like me, it can be kinda rough. It's going to be OK though, you are not alone, and we will make it back out the other side in 2025.

I updated the Instance to Lemmy 0.19.7 today, so as always let me know if you see anything odd. I also moved the images to Object Storage, and unfortunately it does seem that a few images were "eaten" in the process, sorry!

I have updated the instance to the new Lemmy 0.19.6 that comes with a bunch of updates/fixes. As usual, let me know if you see anything weird besides me. =)

Upgraded the instance to 0.19.5 and all seems well. As usual, let me know if you see otherwise.

Upgrading the site to Lemmy 0.19.4 so expect roughly an hour of downtime. I'll update this post right before I take the site down, and again once the site is back up.

Edit #1: OK, site will be going down now 11:31am EST. Edit #2: Site is back up - upgrade complete @ 10:46 pm EST.

A lot of things broke I didn't expect, so please let me know if you find something not work as you believe it should be and I'll see what I can do about fix it (hopefully quicker). Again, sorry about the downtime!

I just wanted to wish anyone like myself, that struggles with the sheer amount of stimulation and hustle bustle of this time of year, the best of luck. You got this! I know it's not easy, but we will make it out the other side and hopefully not be to mentally drained (fingers crossed).

This is just a heads up that I'm readying the server for the new 0.19.1 update so there will be a little downtime for the site once it begins. I'm hopeful that I can do it without buggering the whole thing up and needing to do any restores. =)

As the title states, the instance is now running Lemmy 0.19.0 release. Overall I think it's running good, and some good quality of life features added.

I just update the instance to the newest lemmy-ui:0.19.0-beta.1 and lemmy:0.19.0-rc.1 builds, and as far as I can tell nothing blew up. =)

Oh and the site should work with logins now as well that was broken by an in between build that changed the database but not the front end to talk to it.

My constant quest for the new shiny caused me to bork the site for a short time until I could grok what I did wrong and fix it.
