I really wish people would quit doing this. Not every IP needs to exist in all forms of media and video games rarely make for good movies.
True but I have to admit... I love the damn Mario Movie. It's such a fun brainless ride.
I loved the Mario movie too (a very cursed phrase in other days huh?) but IMO Zelda should have taken the animation path too... Heck, even the anime format would fit (something similar to Castlevania anime).
I have always found it funny that my gf does not like anime, but she is a Zelda fan (literally is the only franchise she plays) and you can quickly catch all the quirks and gags that you get from the Zelda games that are just anime-like.
Sure, but if you only look at recent history, Super Mario Bros, Sonic 1/2/3 & Detective Pikachu all did great. Sure there are bad ones that came out recently too, but you always assume (even if incorrect) you'll make a good one.
If they don't call back to some of the '89 cartoon, I'm not interested.

If the studio can stay out of Wes Ball’s way, then I think it could actually have potential. But Avi Arad is involved and so I’m not confident they can do that.

Pretty hesitant about this one. Mario at least had a precedent of entertaining if not high quality adaptations. Zelda has, what, the cartoon with obnoxious Link and the CDI games?
Not saying those aren't entertaining in their own right but good golly would I not like to see a modern interpretation of those particular interpretations.

I know this is copium but if they felt the need to make a live action Zelda movie, maybe the next game be less colorful like the last 3 mainline games (SS, BotW, Totw).

Why do assume that people are being little shits? Why do you assume that people are freaking out? If your impressions of people around you tend to be negative, your going to live a life always in the defensive and always apprehensive of peoples motivations. Miyamotos answer to him and others was directly to the 1993 movie.
6 years after Tildens tenure, Miyamotos opinion shifted and he started aiming for a Zelda movie. Its been so to speak a part of his philosophy(so to speak) for over a decade now.
