Authoritarian systems tend to create conditions for pedophiles and other sexual predators to thrive. They have a group on the heirarchy who are above reproach in the eyes of everyone around them. That doesn't mean everyone on that level will be sexual predators, but sexual predators who get in there will be protected.
Having seen such a system from the inside (Jehovah's Witness), I've even seen that members will genuinely be disgusted at sexual predators. In their mind, that's all the more reason to believe there are no sexual predators around their group. Their group is good, and therefore, bad people aren't in their group.
I think, for anyone who looks into cults, there is a phase in a cults evolution where pedophilia is accepted.
I suspect that's the years before the founder dies.
