The GPS voice is Hitler screaming and yelling directions at you in German

stoyreply
lemmy.zip

Nah, they made the voice speak english with a German accent, but it keeps messing up the directions in roundabouts.

For some reason the GPS gets confused when directing you to take the third exit in a roundabout and keeps saying: "Take the third reich"

13

It can't turn left… that's why it has you take the third Reich.

And the indicators are a physical arm that repeatedly sticks straight out in a gesture similar to a Roman salute.

The orange engine light that alerts you to engine trouble is a star of david.

The Founders Edition is a limited production run of only the first 88 units built

Edit: and it comes in 14 package variants, naturally

It also fixes many of the issues with the cyber truck. That one has paint, it hasn't got the stupid unified headlight, which isn't legal in most parts of the world, and it's a more traditional shape which means it would be easier to manufacture.

12

Any other company made it... I would totally want this!

...But I will not support that fucking Nazi currently tearing down my country.

4

It REALLY looks like an AI-generated image, several things that stick out.

1

AI blends things together, for better or for worse. In this case, it's not bad.

Shitty cars, shitty company, ketamine addled fascist prick owner.

Still no “Full Self Driving” after claiming “soon” back in 2015…

I mean, the model 3 and Y would be great cars if it weren't for Elon. Tesla, SpaceX, and the whole world would be much better off without him.

Edit: also I'm not talking about FSD, I think it's bullshit and will continue to be bullshit for the foreseeable future. I like to drive my car.

Have you seen the Xiaomi SU7? Cheaper, faster, arguably much better looking....

I live in the US and they're not available. Also I'm reluctant to buy anything with cameras and an internet connection from China as long as the CCP is in charge.

1

lemm.ee

I'm not talking about buying one. Just comparing the cars themselves. Teslas are falling behind.

1

Until self-driving tech is good enough that you can safely not have a human behind the wheel it isn't really anything other than a toy.

As soon as you can remove humans from the equation you can have automated trucks, without even the capacity for a human driver, that's where the real future is, not in owned vehicles that will always have, by definition, a driver in them anyway.

1

if he kept his promise of self driving and an economy model we would all be very uncomfortable right about now.

8

Oh he gave specific dates. And yet people still haven't ridiculed him off the public stage.

VW means people's car.

That’s not wrong, but Volk is more nuanced than that. Think somewhere between folk and ethnicity, so it’s still fascist.

2
mander.xyz

Not entirely true

  1. Many people who're connected through similar history and culture, "a free people", "a suppressed people"
  2. [without plural] Members of a society, the inhabitants of a country, "the working people", ...
4

No, it’s definitely not a comprehensive definition, I was going for the meaning in context of VW. The correct response to pedantry is pedantry, though :)

2
x00zreply
lemmy.world

You're wrong.

In German and Dutch it just means people.

1

In German spoken since the nazis used it as a propaganda term it has taken on a different connotation. The denotation of “Volk” may be “people” in some senses, but “Menschen” fits much better for most uses of people. “A people” is “ein Volk,” but “people” is most commonly used as the plural of “person,” which would be “Mensch.” “Volk” has an ethnic connotation, which the singular meaning of “people” has, but the plural does not.

Fair. I’ll stop calling Swastikars Swastikars, or was it Swasticars? I think it’s Swastikars.
Anyway, someone cooked up the word Hakencruisers and I really loved it.

22

Better, I'd imagine.

"Oh, here comes a hakencruiser..."

"A hack and what?"

Versus "look at that fucking wankpanzer. Fucking wanker." Can't go much simpler than that.

lemmy.world

I'm swastisure he doesn't give a fuck. This is peak slacktivism, on par with sharing a meaningless chain post on Facebook.

21

This leads to a "I don't even know who you are..." moment in OP's grand future confrontation with elon.

7

NGL that swasticar is much better than the rest of their lineup

16

The point of this post is that this shit bothers him. Read the room, of stop trolling.

Is it specifically the cybertruck people are calling swastikars, or is it all tesla cars?

13

lemm.ee

All of them. The cybertruck is just the dumb swasticar.

24
lemm.ee

There are stickers as well. Absolutely don't put them on swasticars.

12

Oh man on the paint? That's just rude.

On a cyber truck or late model year...sure. But the ones that bought new before it was obvious how much of a shitheel Musk is...back when the Tesla stood apart as the electric car? Leave those guys alone. Or at least just inconvenience them by putting it on glass.

10
lemmy.world

Who has Elon growing a toothbrush mustache on their bingo cards?

A musktache if you will.

11
lemmy.wtf

Is it ok to print Swasticar stickers and stick them on Tesla's parked on the street?

7
lemmy.world

Ugh.. please reconsider. Many of us bought model 3/Ys years ago because they were a viable option to ditch gas vehicles. It’s bad enough that I’m stuck with this car for a while longer, I really don’t need it getting vandalized making people think I’m a fucking fascist.

13
Kage520reply
lemmy.world

Yes but if I put that on my car then the group more well known for vandalizing cars will want to vandalize it.

5

Yeah.. I’m strongly considering getting one but I need to be able to remove it so that way the psychotic red hats whose driveway borders mine don’t decide to torch my home at night.

Wear a mask so Elon's spy camera network doesn't ID.

5

I would wear a Dopey Donald mask but then Elon's cameras would be able to pick up the big orange head from space.

2

It's so nice of elongated Muskrat and the orange Pumpkin to be the first of their kind, to publically display Swasticars in such bold fashion - in recent times

3

C’mon bro… you in the comments… op asked so nice bro ! Please!

2

You guys are just giving him ideas on how to build better a better cybertruck swastikar.

2

First time I use Google in years. I'm sure they will readily suck my data, in this case my search for "Swasticars".

1
lemmy.world

The Nazis didn't use the 'Swastika' per se, they used a specific type of swastika called the hooked cross or hakenkreuz. Calling the Nazi cross a swastika brings confusion and disrespects many cultures where the symbol has a meaning diametrically opposite to that of nazi ideology.

1

In english the Hakenkreuz was always called swastika. That's the common usage and calling that wrong is pretty pointless.

15
TangoNoirreply
lemm.ee

Indeed. Most people don't know what a real Swastika is because of Nazi fuckheads. They don't deserve to be able to continue using the term.

6
lemmy.world

So yes that is all true.

However, the mental link of the name "Swastika" with the Nazis has had 90 years of reinforcement in popular culture.

If you want to perpetuate a meme that annoys Elon and damages the Tesla brand (because I think they still spend $0 on marketing) then:

  1. "Swasticars" is a very good phrase because it's a portmanteau and everyone (in WEIRD nations) can work it out, have a little giggle, and then spread it as a meme.
  2. Explaining that it's technically incorrect by going "well actually... (Pushes glasses up)" is not going to help spread the meme and is just being a bit pedantic.
10

By all means I encourage saying anything to pass off Elmo. Was just agreeing with the above point. I can do both.

1

You make a very good point that i have not considered yet. Thank your for bringing this to attention.

3

I've been practicing dharmic religion for many years. Swastikas are used pretty heavily in dharmic spirituality to represent wisdom, or divinity, or the sun. I understand and have even used the symbol for its intended meaning.

The symbol the Nazis used is a swastika. It's okay and correct to call it one.

And why would you use it to make the fugly cybertruck look cooler than it actually does? In a post satirizing it? Weird approach.

5

I think the point is that literally anyone and apparently even non sapient entities, can make a better vehicle than musk can.

2

FWIW I didn't use AI to generate the meme, I stole the meme that someone else used AI to generate.

1

Ai is a tool for anybody, but not anybody can use this tool efficiently yet..

I wish the US had viable alternatives to Tesla.. Most mass market cars here barely match the tech, and still want $$$.

What are you talking about? Ford has better battery chemistry, Chevy has better interiors, Rivian makes a better truck, and those are just American brands.

9
buzz86usreply
lemmy.world

Took Ford 4 years of production to swap to heat pump, Chevy's tech is completely laughable it would be a 500% improvement if they just removed the screen, and did carplay only

2
AbsentBirdreply
lemm.ee

How could you do carplay without a screen?

Frankly I don't need my car to have a gaming system bolted to it. I prefer carplay for music and navigation, and physical buttons for climate control. I think a lot of 'high tech' Tesla design decisions are actively hostile to the driving experience.

1

Carplay can be done without a screen just add GPS arrows and track info to an HUD.

That is part of what annoys me about legacy Auto EVs they try and fail to compete with Tesla, and just give their horrendous infotainment larger screens. If I could option those away I'd seriously prefer that. I care more about what makes the car go.. If I could exchange the screen for more range then that'd be for me.

Another thing that bothers me is packaging. Gigacasting just makes for a better overall car whereas a lot of legacy Auto stuff is conversions of ICE platforms.

1

There's loads of electric vehicles on the market in the US with similar tech to the Tesla. What tech do you want anyway, the most useful thing that Tesla has a reverse charging which is not at all unique.

2
