I mean...I almost said "since when are facts unpopular opinions?"

But then I realized...

He's got a point.....facts...are unpopular opinions nowadays!

You joke, but apparently Trump did actually try to get Musk to buy his garbage barge of a social media site

6

Musk has a string of businesses that he buys, starts to run, and then drives them into the ground. Buying a business that is already driven into the ground is a new one,

1

Came here to say basically the same thing. GOP now stands for Groupies of Putin.

lemmy.world

That's exactly what it is. It should be downvoted into oblivion (even though it's likely true). It's a weird form of karma whoring in a community which should be smart enough to not encourage the behavior

hey, don't leave China out of this, or the Saudis.. credit where it's due..

18

China already controls Canada, they have men everywhere in industries and companies, have "secret" police stations everywhere, "control" Liberals party and Trudeau, etc

And Israel, and corporate lobbies (fossil fuels, pharma, privatized healthcare/prisons/education etc), and homophobes, and white supremacists, and the hyper religious who want to remove separation of church and state, and... To be fair, some of those apply to both major political parties, but the Republicans in particular seem to be hell-bent on compromising themselves. And let's not leave out that they decided (by a large margin) that their "best" candidate is a fraudulent insurrectionist sex offender who has publicly stated his desire to be dictator.

18

Let's not forget all of those who should be politically neutral from the low level staff in the DOJ up to SCOTUS. I hope the majority just do their job without political tilt, but that line is absolutely being blurred. I'm sure many people will start pointing to Thomas as an example, not a cautionary tale.

Is this post part of a meta trend of making obvious statements as though they were unpopular opinions?

14

It's going to turn to r/unpopularopinion with at best an interesting but reasonable take and at worse a very mundane agreeable opinion.

2

I mean its 100% true.

That raises the question where did the boxes of us goverment secrets trump loaded onto a plane end up?

8

Yeah, no, this isn't exactly unpopular on the majority of Lemmy lmao. With how reductive the Republican party is being, particularly towards foreign policy, I wouldn't put backdoor deals out of the question. HOWEVER, there is no physical proof that they aren't just aggressively trying to isolate America for their own America first reasons. Perhaps it is explained by Hanlon's razor for all we know

4

Maybe you are right but at this point IDK what's worst, if the Russians compromising the reichwing or trans and feminists compromising to the lefties

I feel like I don't fit in any of these, at this point Republicans will start openly supporting Russia and Democrats will start fighting for pedo rights.

Am I reading this right? Are you conflating pedophilia with transgender support and feminism? Is this a joke or sarcasm of some kind I'm missing?

Edit: wait, is this super meta unpopular opinion?

9
lemmy.world

99% of what I say it's sarcasm, but think about it, if this thing continues at some point extremist progressives will start doing it, I mean whatever makes them gain votes it's a good idea, I'm not saying trans/feminists are pedos, I'm just saying eventually they will want to gain the pedos votes..

-9

Please explain what this thing that is continuing is and why you believe it'll lead to a center-right political group courting pedophiles for votes. I'm dying to hear this.

The pedos are not a significant voter group. Appealing to them would also turn off the majority of the population. No one will ever pander to the pedos.

4

IDK mate, 100 years ago no one will ever pander to women and gays, and 100 years later we are here so, what will happen in 100 years more? I truly don't know.

But anyway I will not be alive to see it.

-8
lemmy.world

That's one hell of a slippery slope argument.

Do you think they'll try to garner votes from murderers and rapists? Maybe they'll attempt to make pigeons American citizens so they can vote too.

4

Political class it's already full of pedos on both sides, so I will not be surprised if at some point they start to support pedo rights just to gain votes.

You reached the end
