So racist they hate everyone who isn’t themselves.

TBH I detest much of humanity as well, but it’s mostly because there are so many of us that we’re wrecking the planet / ecosystem. It’s easy psychologically to dislike the faceless ‘other’ until you meet them personally and grok their individual humanity. At least I understand the concept and can temper my instincts with logic. These dipshits need a good therapy session.

4
lemmy.cafe

grok their individual humanity.

I was legit going to say something until I looked it up and grok does, in fact, turn out to be an actual slang term:

grok

  1. To understand something intimately and completely. (originally from Stranger in a Strange Land, by Robert A. Heinlein)
  1. With programs, having sufficient understanding.

They’re going to be shocked when their time comes and Christ denies knowing them.

The reason for the low "nones" is because those who profess to being atheists and agnostics are discriminated against, socially, employment-wise and politically. The vast majority of so-called Christians don't believe a fucjing thing in the bible - it's a dishonest social maneuver designed to create acceptance by the tribe, especially if you are a low-life.

Good thing atheists never make up facts to fit their narrative, and are always scientifically objective in their ideas 🤣

The first scenario is basically what happened with the convoys in DC a while back. Every day, they'd drive down, drive around a while, and then leave. I live in the DC area, but don't drive in DC often, but from what I heard, the impact was minimal.

I don't know how many trucks were involved, but I do know those trucks are expensive to buy and maintain, too expensive to keep running them in non-revenue service like that for long.

It's interesting because no one could believe Alex Jones or any of these greedy mega/maga church leaders if they came at it neutrally, they believe because they want to, because acting like they believe it benefits them.

But then such a cult gets built up you start getting true believes who are so caught up in the cult that they can't think anything else. People feel the need to prove how much they belive so they join these crazy groups and movements, they love putting on a big show of being a warrior for the cause but of course they don't want to actually mess up their life because then they wouldn't need the excuse to be selfish... So they do meaningless things like go to protect the boarder knowing full well what everyone knows - it's just some roads with gates there's nothing interesting or even slightly dangerous there.

I’m a pagan so maybe I’m misinterpreting but I did read the Bible in catholic school and I’m pretty sure Jesus said to do the opposite of this. I’m pretty sure he’d be saying that we should see each family as though they were Jose, Maria, and their baby Jesus as no different than Yusef, Miriam, and Ieshiua 2000 years ago. I’m pretty certain that was in fact his entire point though he’d also be saying that single 20 year old men also should be welcomed because they’re either good or lost and able to be redeemed.

22
Treczoksreply

Why on earth would "peacemakers" need the probably mobile armories those idiots are carrying?

21

It's doublespeak, a la 1984. In this case many of the words used are inversions of their usual meaning.

I'll provide some translations:

patriots -> seditionists

biblical -> cloaked in the authority of God – which here must be explicitly stated because their actions are opposed to any God of justice

open boarders -> following legal and ethical principles (remember, these people oppose ethical principles)

peacemakers -> those who use violence, or the threat of violence, to obstruct peace. See also, terrorists

besieged by dark forces of evil -> opposed by morality, ethics, or the law. The addition of "on all sides" changes the 'or' to 'and'

As a bonus, "globalists" is antisemitism. There's an old canard that justice for minorities = communism = Jewish conspiracy. This is particularly common among nazis. The convoy organizer is signaling that their group is accepting of these ideas

30

Fucking brain dead morons sacrificing their livelihoods for the party that is actively blocking any action on securing the border.

That’s the whole game, create problems and stop progress so you can claim that you are the only group capable of solving it. This is just an op to try and smear the Ds

19

I read that as "besieged on all sides by dark...forces of evil," narrowly avoiding saying dark people instead and losing all pretense.

11

A lot of untreated mental health issues making themselves visible in those two paragraphs. If only their parents hugged them once in awhile when they were kids maybe they'd be productive members of society instead.

10

The Hypocrisy is palpable. Where in Christ's teachings does it say to use razor wire and allow women and Children to drown to protect your way of life?! These Chuds are as much antichrists as 45.

7

Just like when JT Kirk said, "What does God need with a trucker convoy?"

25

Oh don't worry they have a bunch of poorly translated Bible passages to misinterpret.

I always find it ironic when religious people try to use race as a justification for their bigotry when Jesus was clearly of middle eastern descent.

It infuriates me beyond belief that I was one of the few individuals who actually read through the bible when I was forced to go to catholic school.

That and the absolutely abhorrent state of humanity really designates evidence that these books of all major religions are just the words of man to trick people into believing a god.

Malleable idiots are the easiest to control, after all. The inquisition proved this and every major violent engagement since has just been additional evidence.

11

one of the few individuals who actually read through the bible

What just dumbfounds me is that about every other year, my religious family start talking about how they're going to do some group thing where they read through the entire bible. I know how that goes... Even while they're reading through it all, they still cherry pick what they are going to talk about each week because there is just so many gosh dang words in there. Then they forget 60% of what they even talked about. Then they spew off as if they know everything ever about christianity while never having read any of the apologetics or philosophical underpinnings of even their creed, much less any other. It's a symptom of the last few decades, I think, where we accept the barest minimum of understanding of a subject as being enough to confidently believe we are knowledgeable. Dunning-Kruger strikes again, I guess.

I think they’ll fuck it up the same way that truck protest in DC fucked up. They’ll spend a couple of weeks sleeping in parking lots and pissing in Gatorade bottles while live streaming (no pun intended) asking for donations. Then there be a cult split where multiple people claim ownership of the movement and denounce each other, and they’ll all be very sad that although people follow them on a streaming service and post about how great they are, 99% of them are going to be limiting themselves to Truth Social support and $25 donations.

These things are like Only Fans for fascists, but they’re also in direct competition with each other for a limited grift audience.

God was a desert god back in the day. All the regions in the area each had thier own protector diety. The storm/desert god eventually won out and spread and became the Abrahamic God we know today.

So really, they're right. God is an immigrant.

11
kromemreply
lemmy.world

Not really. The version of God depicted in the Bible is likely several different gods merged together.

Yahweh is of somewhat unknown origin/character - one of the more interesting theories was a metallurgy god, though it is likely that he was originally from the Shasu. Personally I think his role early on was as a consort god to Asherah and over time he became the main event and then sole event as the more matriarchal aspects faded in response to reforms.

El gets mixed in, who was a storm god.

Then you also have Baal even through they pretend he's always been the enemy - theomorphic names in early Israelite graveyards were 30% based on Baal, and it's possible Baal influence led to the Yahweh/Anat in Elephantine.

It's not really something simple enough to be laid out in a comment.

9
WarmSodareply
lemm.ee

Yeah the El+Baal version is the one I was going off of. It's interesting stuff.

On the other side (Yahweh) an interesting read is this particularly in light of the theft of Isaac's blessing from the eponymous founder of Edom by the guy whose name later changes to 'Israel.' (A birthright that's the only place the male form of "Great Lady" appears and a blessing which referred to "may your mother's sons bow down to you" - weird for a patriarchal blessing...)

2

Ok, so more "the God they believe in was an immigrant."

There's so many different conceptions of God as a concept/proper noun that it's otherwise a bit ambiguous.

But indeed, Matthew's Moses-ification of Jesus would have made him an immigrant.

A group of six patriot-world influencers, including Kim Yeater, who runs a self-empowerment self-help group and an anti-voter fraud group, started organizing the convoy around a month ago. “God’s army is rising up,” she said on the planning call. “We all have been chosen for this time.”

Religion influencing the state is anti-constitutional, blocking the freedom of others, blocking the state, and opposing equal rights, even for non-nationals, is anti-patriotism.

Feelings of patriotism are based on the positive values the country embraces—like freedom, justice, and equality. The patriot believes that both the system of government and the people of their country are inherently good and work together for a better quality of life.

In contrast, feelings of nationalism are based on a belief that one’s country is superior to all others. It also carries a connotation of distrust or disapproval of other countries, leading to the assumption that other countries are rivals. While patriots do not automatically denigrate other countries, nationalists do, sometimes to the point of calling for their country’s global dominance. Nationalism, through its protectionist beliefs, is the polar opposite of globalism.

While I don't agree that nationalism necessarily perceives a superiority, it does prioritise the nation as always being number one, even at to cost of others.
