A plea for new users

Small social medias like this live and die on the participation of their users! Reddit is semi-famous for it’s large fraction of lurkers, but everyone in Spyke should make an effort to come out of their shell and create content where possible. It is the best way to grow the site and to dethrone Reddit.

Since Reddit decided to destroy itself, I feel like this will be easier to achieve.

I'd love to contribute, but I work, eat, sleep, hike, golf on occasion, play video games, go out to eat with my wife, and takes pictures of our cat and tortoise.

If they create a "funny pet pictures" or "food porn" Clan I can definitely contribute, but at this point I got nothin.

Yeah I agree with this. My reddit account is 12 years old and I mostly lurked the entire time. I am trying to use this opportunity to actually make conversation and content so I don't fall back into the same pattern

Same here. Been trying to not lurk. This platform looks like an excellent alternative. Only thing it needs is more users. Which I'm sure we can get if we all do our part. Fuck reddit

Agreed. The design is clean and simple enough. I think if the devs can put some time into listening to the community, they'll have a good idea of what users want as additional features.

Any tips on how to come up with what to post? I feel my problem is that I am not very creative and more reactive. I find it much easier to reply to things than to spur up a discussion.

Seems like anything works at this point. People need content to react to and interact with. Do you have any pets? Post a picture and I'll tell you how awesome it is.

Well, that's fine too! Content without a discussion would defeat the purpose of this nested comment system we have built.

We have a limited number of communities mainly because of some technical decisions we took previously that are now coming back to bite us, so please bear with us while we make stuff happen.

If someone makes a clan, do they become a moderator/admin. Because I really do not want that sort of responsibility lol

At the moment, no. We take clan suggestions, and then we manually add them to the database. This is actually what we are trying to fix.
