Why would anyone lose so much for UPSC

Why would anyone lose so much for UPSC

Imagine losing an 8hr corporate job in a good city with a 30LPA salary for an ultra competitive rote learning exam like UPSC. What even is UPSC testing?

Being able to remember random facts does not equal intelligence or ethics. It is like they are testing all the wrong things.

The educational framework in India excels at generating 'dissatisfied graduates' no longer passionate about their primary field of study, often leading to a shift towards UPSC preparation.

Numerous employed professionals perceive themselves as underutilized and believe they can showcase their intelligence by succeeding in an exam.

Due to the accomplishments of XYZ's offspring or XYZ themselves in becoming an IAS officer, others feel inspired to pursue a civil service exam.

Success stories are often publicized by both those who entered the service and those who didn't, such as coaching mentors looking to profit.

Only victorious stories are documented (on platforms like Youtube), and the unsuccessful attempts remain undisclosed.

Many students underestimate the competition and overestimate their capabilities.

Most of those who study have good intentions (initially at least) to contribute to society but are often not aware of alternative ways to do so.

Ultimately, several students are reluctant to explore and identify their true passions, opting instead to participate in a prestigious pursuit that is easy to enter but difficult to exit.

Rightly put, plus bribe and power seeking mentality is inherently independent of one's ability too pass an exam.
