This isn’t a fun story, but a girl who lived the floor up from my best friend’s gf disappeared one night without a trace, never to be found. It was wild on campus for a couple months. Because her last name was Spierer, to this day I still sometimes slip up and say “disaspiered”

The circumstances of this unfortunate event were unsettling and weird all around.

In an ethical hacking tutorial we were being taught how to spoof emails. One guy sent an email from the “principal” to another guy who happened to be at home that day asking him to come to college immediately. The idiot actually came to college and met the principal🤣 what a dumbass

I went to college.

A girl from my class was carried out of a talk given by a guest-lecturer from another college by some staff.

She had probably fainted.

The lecturer paused and then said, "Yes, well, my research DOES have that effect on some people."

That guy really had some next level charisma. It was a very good lecture too.

Not a funny incident but I have heard this many times from my seniors and even coaching teachers who studied at iit Kanpur. In 2004 IIT Kanpur invited Punjab engineering college for a women’s basketball match. There was a slightly obese girl on whom someone passed a lewd comment. Later. She got some of the guys from the college to bash the student who passed said comments.

Where the news reached the Dean of student affairs (DOSA) he fired the iitk student and also the student body in general for letting down the college. He completely ignored the PEC guys who did violence.

Now this DOSA was very unpopular. Especially disliked by the president of the student gymkhana. So this gymkhana people decided to take revenge on the DOSA. Students were recruited and used to break into the rooms of PEC students and destroy their belongings. The whole thing was presented like it was done only by students without any involvement of the gymkhana.

The DOSA then called everyone for some kind of identification. Some 300 students were summoned. Most of them were clueless, then suddenly in the crowd people started blaming the DOSA for all the problems.

Soon there was a huge protest outside the DOSA's residence. With slogans like "Dosa resign karo" most did not even know why they were saying it.

Later the director finally gave into the demands and the DOSA himself resigned and PEC was banned permanently...

One time our prof was reading out loud "The rules of cryptography". One student was dozing off on the last bench. Unfortunately this students roll number was 1.

So this is how this professor usually dictates. He repeats the same sentence 2-3 times. Thus he says "rule number 1" three times.

This student dozing off at the back somehow hears "rule number 1" for the 3rd time and he thinks his roll number is being called out.

He stands up and loudly screams "present sir"

The entire class starts laughing but sir was not amused and the student gets sent to the first bench 😂. This story was pure gold I've told it to so many people lmfao.

One odd incident I remember. There were these 2 boys in our class who were both copying. One was copying from another student and another was copying from the text book off his phone. After correction the first guy got an earful cuz his answers were the same as the one he copied from.

The other student who copied from the text book got away with it. And not just that. After we get back the answer sheets. This guy has the nerves to go to the teacher and show that her wrote exactly the way it was in the text book. And he got full marks for that answer 😂
