Rant: Frustration About Current State of Games Companies
Terrible people have produced magnificent "content" since Oog and Tharg first painted on cave walls. I love the work of Wagner, even though I'm not a Nazi. Fan of Lovecraft even though his standards are equally shitty. I adore American Psycho even though B E Ellis comes across as an utter tool. Picasso was a womanizing prick, boardering on paedophile. Great painter though.
Feel free to vote with your wallet, but if you become too sensitive to the moral and ethical views of people, or "some" of the people working for companies, you'll miss out on some masterpieces.
Having said that, I won't buy any Kelloggs products because fuck Kelloggs. Does that make me a hypocrite? Maybe a little, but we all need our lines in the sand.

Why do some car exhausts drip fluid?
It is just water. When the engine starts the cold exhaust heats up creating condensation which drips off as the exhaust fumes are expelled.
It "can" be oil, but you'd need to be pretty unlucky, and need a new engine.

Milk from carbon dioxide and electricity
Nice way to capture the CO2 and we could generate the electricity by burning cows.

Alternative to Google's "Messages" app (for SMS) on Android?
I used to use all the Simple tools, even paid for them, unfortunately the dev changed monetization to a shitty model and I got locked out.
Since then I moved to QKSMS. Its on F-Droid and despite some initial quirks I'm very happy with it.

Is Lemmy THE reddit alternative for you? Are you thinking about moving somewhere else?

I'd love to give Tildes a go, the content seems a lot more "grown up" with a more substantial discourse. But its still invite only shrug

Virgin Media blocking Lemmy?
Late response but I got to the root of the issue. Lemmy (well, lemmy.world) wasn't being cached by Quad9's DNS servers.
I tested by using different DNS servers (OpenDNS) which worked fine, then permanently resolved it by installing unbound on my pihole and using that instead.
Tl;dr it was DNS
It's always DNS

Really enjoyed my experience with Tinykin. Very cute, very chill and easy enough to complete in a day or 100% over a weekend.
I keep dropping back into it so I'm sad to see it go.

Review: Beepy a Palm-Sized Linux Hacking Playground
Pre-ordering because it looks like a fun little cyberdeck and I have a spare pi zero w knocking around gathering dust.
Hopefully by time of production they will have upgraded the 10K resistor on the TPS61030 pin, but not a deal-breaker for me.
Also, if someone writes a patch to enable HDMI as a separate graphical monitor the uses for this increase massively

anyone else not at all a fan of the new BBC app
I'm still bitter about them removing the alarm function from the BBC radio sounds app

WiFi setup
This is what Layer 3 is for. You need to open the relevant port between vlans (e.g. TCP 443 for https) on the firewall. I think its UDP 1900 but may vary by appliance.
I'd also allow multicast, ICMP (ping) and DNS between your vlans as a minimum depending on what they're used for.
