Chicago Preps for Trump's Looming Militarized 'Invasion'

At this point, blue areas of the country just need to stop paying federal taxes entirely and use the taxes to just better themselves and themselves only. Starve the federal government. MAGA has no idea how much funding is actually from blue states and blue cities within red states, and it's best they find the fuck out.

Steam payment headaches grow as PayPal is no longer usable for much of the world: Valve hopes to bring it back in the future, 'but the timeline is uncertain'

It's also ridiculously difficult if not impossible to process a legal name change on your account, unlike a real bank. This means that married women, people who changed their name to avoid unsafe family members, and trans people are basically just not able to have accounts under their new legal names unless they're willing to just make a new account if they can't get anywhere with support. Supposedly, all you need is your legal documents, but I've heard a lot of horror stories about how convoluted they make it in practice.

My family came over recently enough that some of these old fucks would have grown up knowing them as an immigrant family, but still long enough ago that we've been Americans for generations. (I'm mostly white so I'm talking about my Sicilian and Latvian sides of the family)

People who are or have dated more than one person, how did it work out?

I used to date my Dungeon Master (Dungeons and Dragons, not anything weird) and one of her friends she grew up with. The relationship was pretty brief, but she was really good at emphasizing communication between all of us. The breakup didn't even really feel like a breakup.

A couple years ago, she died in a car wreck with one of the players in my group and even though we weren't dating at the time, it made it harder for me to get back into the dating scene after the relationship I had around that time ended shortly after. I briefly got back with the other person I dated, but it wasn't the same and they weren't poly anymore.

If I was in a relationship right now and got over it better, I'd definitely be poly. It felt really normal.

Am I the only one who thinks social media has destroyed the spirit of the internet?

This is why I'm finding more and more that it's easier to find local events the "old fashioned way" (word-of-mouth, flyers, local newspapers and zines, etc) rather than through social media. It used to be easier to see events local to me, but now the algorithm pushes events that I may like but aren't local at all. Sometimes I do actually see something local, but it's too late.

I laughed when a guy came in from Doordash and picked up one can of Formula. I thought crazy someone would do that. But he claimed that he once delivered a candy bar. Anyone know if that possible?

I only order from Doordash if I'm sick and don't feel comfortable being out in public. (Especially if I'm not sure if it's Covid) I usually order the same things because if I'm sick, I want food I don't have to make for myself that wouldn't disappoint me if I couldn't taste it well enough.

Trump: 'A Lot of People Are Saying Maybe We'd Like a Dictator'

A lot of people are saying that, but those are people willing to do anything for him and Elon. It's not an accurate description of what the average American citizen thinks. I think the average American just wants a stable economy and freedom to live how we want to and he's not giving us that. I'd also argue that the average American would want to own a house that they could afford to pass down and be able to afford raising a family, and don't want to be pushed into a rental market for the rest of their lives. You know, the American dream.

I hang out with a lot of poly people despite not dating anyone at the moment, and I know of a relationship where one partner is either doing that intentionally or on accident. They're the only monogamous person (and admitted to me they don't want to date someone who is poly but don't want to break up), and dating someone who has multiple serious partners that they've been with longer. I really can't see it going well if this person doesn't say something, even if it probably would lead to a breakup just due to being incompatible. I feel like it's not my place to warn their partner about it, so I'm just burdened by this information that I don't really want to know about.
