Son of Norway’s crown princess suspected of 23 offences including rape, police say
Reply in thread
To be fair, he doesn't have a title or any official position of power. His mother already had him when she met and later married the crown prince of Norway. But everyone in Norway knows who he is and he's definitely very privileged, so he may have abused that fact..

What is happening in Norway, and how do we spread it?

I'm a Norwegian Linux enthusiast and have never heard anything about the government using Ubuntu or Linux. Seems unlikely, from what I know. I know that within healthcare Windows is still widely used, even on the server side...
On the other hand, a lot of software for official services is being developed as open source now, so that's at least a good step in the right direction. Example: https://github.com/navikt

Thinkpad for the win
Reply in thread
Not where I work. My thinkpad is managed by the understaffed IT department, and is severely crippled by clownstrike and other garbage and bloatware. Linux is not allowed, only windows.
But my colleagues who chose a MacBook don't have all that crap because said IT department haven't figured out how to remotely manage Macs yet...

Trump humiliated in the ‘most powerless image ever’ of a U.S. president
Reply in thread
I suggest changing it slightly to POTUSITO - President of the United States In Title Only.
Has the added bonus of -ito being a diminutive suffix in Spanish, and probably many related languages, so afaik one could read it as "little POTUS" 😁

You can google "women in computing" for more details, or check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_computing - it's amazing how much women contributed to this field and how little known that appears to be. (I only learned about it a few years ago myself.)
But the gist is:
Early on (i.e. the 1940s and 50s), men thought the prestige and honor was in building the giant machines (which back then could fill a classroom or more). Actually programming them was considered easier, "just like following a recipe", so women got jobs as "computers" who did this part. To quote that wikipedia article: Designing the hardware was "men's work" and programming the software was "women's work."
Fast forward to the 1970s and people had started realizing that programming was actually hard, and so it was promoted as a field boys should get educated in, while girls were encouraged to instead become nurses and teachers and such.

Agreed
Reminds me of my Polish colleague who once arrived at the office and said: "I would say good morning. But it's not a good morning. "
The previous night our manager had taken the team out for dinner and drinks, paid for by the company. It wasn't a good morning for any of us 😁

My favorite bug ever.
Tarn once explained it in more detail: the game's code is object oriented, and the small amount of beer on a cat's paw inherited all the variables of a full mug of beer. And the game uses a creature's body size + amount of alcohol ingested to calculate/simulate drunkenness (all the way to alcohol poisoning and death).

Both of these "parents" were arrested and convicted for child abuse.
DaddyOFive was horrible, and straight up abuse. I was there when it was exposed by some big youtuber and then the story took off on reddit. It was very disturbing, and even more so to know that hundreds of thousands of people subscribed to the channel and thought it was funny entertainment... Thankfully the parents were arrested, and the children got help, but my faith in humanity got permanently damaged during those days.
From skimming the description on Wikipedia I'm glad I've never seen anything from that other channel.

Migrated my self-hosted Nextcloud to AIO and I absolutely love it
Reply in thread
No, you give the AIO container access to your docker daemon and it will create / handle / supervise all the other containers nextcloud needs.

With the current state of the news, April's fools aren't fun anymore because they can't be distinguished as easily as before
My local newspaper stopped doing April Fools in 2017 due to the problem of fake news and discussions about media's credibility.

According to Vivian he also paid extra to have them select only male embryos during the in vitro process, or something like that (not sure about the details and correct terminology) - and didn't get what he paid for in Vivian's case... Which I guess probably also contributed.

Sorry, but it appears you are quite wrong.
From the article:
“She was indefatigable. She just kept going,” he said Tuesday. “She was not someone who would take naps in the afternoon, or not show up for any function, dinner or anything else. She was always there, fully present. She kept going, always.”
