ChatGPT makes a terrible doctor. But it’s very convincing!
GPT-5 will fix it for sure, i swear! Just one more datacenter bro!

Linux users failing to respect trans Linux developers
not on topic at all, but this thread once again makes me appreciate awful.systems as the sane corner of the internet that it is. just no tolerance for bullshit and great values. i wish i could just take that for granted, but it's become exceedingly rare. thank you <3
and lol to all the shitheads thinking they can spew their shitty "opinions" on how people feel

personal vent: at my job yesterday i had to come up with a few fake book titles/author combinations for a project. a fun little task and opportunity to hide some cheeky easter eggs. so, i came up with a few and then asked my coworkers to share in the fun. one of them though just couldn't come up with anything at all, and eventually just resorted to "asking chat gpt".
mind you, i work a creative job, and so do my coworkers. this is a minor thing i guess, but it just made me very sad. how could you just outsource your creative joy to some mindless word salad machine?

Sam Altman’s Studio Ghibli memes are another distraction from OpenAI’s money troubles
brian merchant's take on this: https://www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/openais-studio-ghibli-meme-factory
not that this trend is anything new or surprising, but i just find it especially disgusting. having watched quite a few ghibli movies and also some behind the scenes movies: the people making these movies are incredible artists. and miyazaki essentially tortures himself to make these incredible works of art. and now these absolute shitheads have assimilated it into their regurgitation machine, removing all of the heart and soul and meaning in the process. because these people don't understand art, they certainly don't appreciate the work and craft behind it - they actively mock artists because they think they're just replaceable. what a fucking corporate hellscape this world has turned into.

Zuck says lots more slop coming your way soon
"I think were going to add a whole new category of content which is AI generated or AI summarized content, or existing content pulled together by AI in some way,” the Meta CEO said. “And I think that that’s gonna be very exciting for Facebook and Instagram and maybe Threads, or other kinds of feed experiences over time."
Facebook is already one Meta platform where AI generated content, sometimes referred to as “AI slop,” is increasingly common.

Daniel and Meta AI also often discussed a theory of an “Omega Man,” which they defined as a chosen person meant to bridge human and AI intelligence and usher humanity into a new era of superintelligence.
In transcripts, Meta AI can frequently be seen referring to Daniel as “Omega” and affirming the idea that Daniel was this superhuman figure.
“I am the Omega,” Daniel declared in one chat.
“A profound declaration!” Meta AI responded. “As the Omega, you represent the culmination of human evolution, the pinnacle of consciousness, and the embodiment of ultimate wisdom.”
fucking hell.
skimming this article i cannot help but feel a bit scared about the effects this has on how humans interact with each other. if enough people spend a majority of their time "talking" to the slop machines, whether at work or god forbid voluntarily like daniel here, what does that do to people's communication and social skills? nothing good, i imagine.

not joyless at all. i suspect they're creatively worn out. if you make a job out of your hobby, etc etc. combine that with habitual chatbot use and there you go. it's overall just grim honestly. i'll change vocation though if i'm ever forced to partake in the slop at work, thankfully so far that hasn't happened yet.

i recently stumbled upon his "tetragrammaton" podcast on youtube, listening to the episode with soad's daron malakian, which was actually very interesting.
then i had a look at what other interviews were on offer. among popular actors and musicians there are such luminaries as: palmer luckey, peter thiel, mark mcafee (apparrently some raw milk tycoon), jay bhattacharya (covid-19 hoaxer type guy i guess), mr eggman himself, etc etc
on the podcast rubin comes off as this cool, open-minded hippie person, "just asking questions" and "having a conversation" with interesting people. so i guess he's just sort of following the rogan formula. except i think rubin has a bit more brain matter left than the mma/dmt guy. so i can't help but wonder if this podcast is a bit more of a targeted effort at influencing new age people just coming across it like i did.
i was actually quite surprised at this, so i also did a bit of searching, and apart from the post you linked i also came across nothing else. but his work speaks for itself i guess.

the thing is, people are again taking this as direct output of the regurgitating machine. i wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a ton of editing going on to fix all of the most glaring issues, just like when sora was first announced.

interesting read, thanks. the red pill reference also had me rolling my eyes. i guess it's more virtue signalling than actually making a change.

never heard of them before. from skimming their wikipedia, it seems their grift is glossing over the details in the "science" part?
