I feel that backup cameras have become more necessary as crash safety rules have become more stringent. The belt line on cars is really high now. You can't see as much out of the sides or the back. My car from the early 2000s definitely had windows that were lower and I had no trouble parallel parking it without a camera. I appreciate the cameras on the newer vehicles. Easier parking is great but also.... not running over little kids is good too I suppose.

I sent them an angry email when I bought my first house. I had purchased a physical copy of a game because I was waiting for my Internet to get turned on. I wasn't able to play because it required an internet connection to complete the registration. I was so mad. I told them I would never buy another thing from Valve. A quick google suggests that there are over 400k non-citizens with criminal convictions in the US. To our Canadian friends, I'm really sorry about all this nonsense. I love Canada just the way it is. Can't wait for my next trip up to Toronto or Montreal. Always a good time. I'm a little worried that I might not get a warm welcome on the next trip though.

For C++ I found the clangd plugin to be the secret. Just install that and get your build to output a compile_commands.json in your build folder. That is easy to do with cmake but most other setups can do it too. The plugin will find that after a clean build. Then it will magically index your whole project.

We had a GE that had the heat pump die after a couple years. Now our AO Smith will randomly not have hot water some mornings with no error codes. I am all for heat pumps, I am just not enjoying being a beta tester. I'd like to replace my gas furnace with a heat pump but my previous experiences make me nervous. I had one. I really liked it but there were a couple of major downsides I remember. If you had to reboot it, it took many minutes to come back up. It also had the build quality of a sand castle. My wife and I both went through multiple devices in the couple of years we had them. It was my first smart phone.

I hear you. I was getting way too worked up about it as well. I've reduced my phone time as best I can, got some physical activity in, and tried to focus on some hobbies.
