Good luck today, friends
My racist/sexist/generally terrible uncle calls me liberal, brainwashed and woke, not open minded.

I've been using it since I started 10 years ago, and it's always been enough
Please don’t turn this community into a meme dumping ground. You can go to r/piracy for that.

People in their 40s and 50s with no children, how does it feel?

Didn’t downvote you but it’s probably bc Reddit’s original childfree subreddit is a special kind of toxic hellhole; even for Reddit… which is saying something.

Linux changed in 2024, but 2025 will be MUCH BIGGER
Honestly there are only so many clickbait headlines a guy can take in a day. I’ve reached my quota. Can some good person or bot tl;dr this please?

This feels like a paid advertisement ”review” to me. There is basically nothing negative or critical at all. No places to improve? Here is the most critical bit in the entire post:
If you use GNOME, you should definitely be giving Ghostty a try. To be completely fair, I did not dislike using it on my other KDE Plasma — based machine either, but it does not feel as “native” yet. One day it will, though…
Mmmmm 😕

I’m all good. I really wasn’t asking for tech support. Just sharing something with the community. Don’t worry, Sony didn’t get my data.
Thanks for the helpful thoughts though.

$80 for a lifetime subscription is reasonable for a well developed app without venture capital subsiding the cost.
Plexpass lifetime is $120.

I’m planning to teach middle school Spanish, would casually mentioning having a girlfriend cause an uproar?
Why even take the risk? Just talk about something else.

X's declining user base: Elon Musk's platform projected to lose millions of users in 2025
According to analysts at Emarketer, from when Musk acquired X in 2022 until 2025, they expect X to have lost 7 million monthly active users in the U.S.
The declining user base pales in comparison to the decline of X's brand and value. According to a recent report from Brand Finance, X's brand is now worth 673 million. The brand was valued at $5.7 billion before Musk's takeover in 2022. When it comes to revenue, X's revenue fell by 40 percent when compared to the prior year based on internal company data from June 2024.

It tried to. I use an opnsense firewall which caught it. I copied my logs and submitted the domains to a popular dns blocklist and they’ve already been merged.

How does Lemmy feel about "open source" machine learning, akin to the Fediverse vs Social Media?
I think it’s amazing. I’m running Ollama with a bunch of open-source llms. You’re right. It’s so good. The problem is keeping up to date on what the newest development is.
The pace of progress is so fast and it’s really difficult to know what the cool kids are experimenting with this moment.

YubiKeys are vulnerable to cloning attacks thanks to newly discovered side channel
Is this because FIDO2 is flawed, the yubikey hardware design is flawed or both?

What's the deal with English muffins and why do the English like them so much?
The Anglos prefer muffins with nooks. Saxons like ones with crannies. Anglo-Saxons prefer English muffins which have both nooks and crannies.

Oh, now i get it! "Peanuts" is because they are "nuts" inside a pod-like thing, just like peas!
I think they’re actually legumes, not nuts.

Headline says video was leaked. It was probably a private meeting. Agree that it was a stupid thing to say regardless.
