What kinds of things from reddit would you like to see Lemmy avoid as the user base grows?
gatekeeping, censorship, shadowbans from commenting in a different community, echo chambers.

Seriously, what's up with big sites literally dying as we speak?
twitter was overvalued. reddit has made a lot of questionable business decisions over the last decade or so but their recent API change will be their death knell. it feel like a cash grab. I personally only use Twitch to watch Bob Ross reruns :P

Please don't zero out your account from *over there* if you've contributed answers or resources.
kinda disagree, reddit is going to monetize the hell out of anything that's left over after everyone leaves
better to delete everything asap

17th Reddit cake day would have been in August… but my 1st Lemmy cake day is today!
longtime reddit user myself (since 2007ish?), trying to ditch reddit because I cant stand the official way to access it & with all of the impending changes it's good to leave early. today is day1 of lemmy for me. it looks like an interesting platform - especially the decentralized aspect of it.
happy cake day, @RadDevon

Chinese censors to restrict use of AirDrop and Bluetooth, activists fear it will further hinder their ability to mobilise people and share information
how? just... what?
bluetooth has been included on basically every communication capable device manufactured in the last 15+ years, easily hundreds, probably thousands of different manufacturers.
this is an unrealistic expectation.
the apple thing though? easy. apple and the CCP are like besties these days.
