This is a resubmission of an earlier image I submitted --- originally on lemmy.today's pict-rs instance --- that later became inaccessible, and where a commenter complained. For some reason, whenever I try to update the image URL to point to an off-site host, lemmy.today tries instead using an URL that proxies through lemmy.today.

Uploading to catbox.moe and then creating a new post using an alternate account on a PieFed home instance as workaround.

EDIT: If I browse this post via lemmy.today, the server still intercepts the image, tries to cache it, and then fails, I assume because it's too large. Video game openings help set the stage for the game itself. What are your favorite video game openings? Could be the title screen, or the first bit in-game before the play starts. Could be that you like the music, or that they have a clever twist, or that they're technically impressive. Bonus points if you can link to a PeerTube or YouTube clip of them to let other people here who haven't yet seen them watch them!

I have, in the past, gotten my "money economy" going by waiting until I could kill a salt kraken, which has a valuable corpse. Picking it up, then recoiling next to a merchant with a lot of stuff. Once that's going, it's cloning draught and metamorphic polygel.

But a much easier route: Just get some sunslag (found by exploring in the Palladium Reefs). Drop a dram into the river of primordial ooze in the Rainbow Wood. Wait a bit, and you'll have a monosludge with a radiant pseudopod forming. Then run around and let it throw dilute sunslag at you, which will generate a lot of that. Even dilute, it's quite valuable.

Maybe this was obvious to other people, but took me a bit.

Just a reminder, or for those who are not aware.

On November 4, less than two months from now, California will hold a special election. The intention of this is to permit California to temporarily gerrymander its electoral districts in favor of Democrats to counter Texas gerrymandering its electoral districts in favor of Republicans. The change will be temporary, lasting for elections over the next six years before reverting.

Voting YES on Proposition 50 is to vote for the temporary change.

While this election is only happening in California, it is entirely possible that the outcome will affect whether or not the Democratic Party takes control of the House of Representatives nationwide in the midterm elections in 2026, which is probably the single largest check that can be placed on President Trump for the remainder of his term.

If you feel that it is important for the Democrats to take the House in 2026, then you may want to be sure to vote YES on Proposition 50.

Make sure that you are registered to vote. The last day you can register to vote is October 20. If you are registered to vote, you will recieve a ballot in the mail.

This is a way in which California residents may have an important effect on the path the country takes over the next several years.
