Go back to dumb phone
in my experience modern "dumbphones" are still just smartphones with bad hardware.
what actually helped me with phone usage and doomscrolling was completely deleting all mainstream/algorithmic social media, being extremely aggressive about blocking problematic domains with DNS (so it can apply to all my devices, not just my smartphone), rejecting unnecessary apps, limiting notifications to only specific people/times, etc.
tl;dr being mindful and intentional about how you use all technology will have a bigger impact than just replacing your phone with a different one :)

Solarpunk media recomendations?
nausicaä and the valley of the wind. environmentalism shows up a lot in miyazaki's work, but nausicaä is the most direct about it and aligns with solarpunk in its messaging and themes.

What are your favorite nature documentaries that DO talk about human beings, but NOT in a way that sounds like humans just suck?
planet earth III's second-to-last episode ("human") is focused solely on humans and our relationship with nature (good and bad), while the final episode ("heroes") is specifically about conservation. more is sprinkled throughout, such as the wuthathi people protecting raine Island in "coasts," so i recommend watching the whole series.
the green planet is by the same team and is just like planet earth III, except it's about plants instead.

im a 90s zoomer cusper and we used vhs well into the mid 2000s. its not just millenials or gen x.
probably half our vhs tapes were recordings of tv broadcasts or other tapes. the one i remember most was a recording of rankin-bass rudolph, commercial breaks and all. (and it technically isnt piracy, as the US supreme court determined in 1984 that private home recordings counted as fair use.)

Opinion | The Last Survivors of an Atomic Bomb Have a Story to Tell

according to this, the groups that protested were not just the air force association and american legion (which both lobby on behalf of veterans), but also individual WWII veterans from around the country.
as the grandchild of a (now deceased) nagasaki survivor, i have heard this rhetoric from not just veterans, but their children and grandchildren as well. in my experience interacting with them (irl, not online), i have never heard a single one criticize the atomic bombs, ever. that's just my experience, though.

Wanted: Stuff to Grill
what a coincidence - we grilled out yesterday!
aside from veggie burgers, i'm echoing the top comment: don't sleep on grilled vegetables. peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, corn on the cob, eggplant, etc.
