Further proof that humanity neither deserves nor is capable of having nice things.

Who would set up an AI bot to shit all over the one remaining useful thing on the Internet, and why?

I'm sure the answer is either 'for the lulz' or 'late-stage capitalism', but still: historically humans aren't usually burning down libraries on purpose.

Discussing jury nullification is against the ToS of lemmy.world and will get you banned, according to worldnews mod

It's a TOS violation to discuss one of the very real and legitimate responsibilities you have as a juror?

Like, nullification is a thing because it's very much the absolute very very last defense against bullshit laws being used against people by a corrupt judicial system.

It's a moral imperative and something anyone sitting on a jury should understand and be willing to use.

What an absurd take, especially since it sounds like it's all the .world admins having it.

Kroger Invests $1B in Antitrust Defense.

So maybe it's just me, but if you have to make promises of spending a billion dollars so that the government will let you buy your next biggest competitor, perhaps you're already too damn big and don't need to be gobbling up your entire industry?

Like I said, just a thought.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 needs 64GB of RAM for ideal performance — oddly, the game install size is only 30GB

Reply in thread

That's exactly what they're doing: the assets are going to be streamed and then probably cached in RAM, thus you need a lot of RAM.

Of course this makes me think that FS2024 is going to get live-serviced and killed at some point when they decide to stop hosting all that data and welp so much for your game you bought, too bad.

New Florida sex education curriculum excludes almost all information about sex

The worst thing I ever read about the issues about destroying sexual education is that it also leaves children unable to actually describe any abuse, because they don't know what's going on, what anything is called, and what is and isn't a "good" touch.

I'm not saying Florida Republicans are in any way wanting that outcome, but you have to at least wonder why they're so concerned about this.
