Linux continues to grow and has reached a new peak of 3.20% in the November 2025 Steam Hardware & Software Survey

I switched to Bazzite based on a recommendation and it's been a fantastic OS for me (gaming and light development/home labbing) and I no longer have any desire to distro hop.
Took a bit to figure out the immutable stuff for some very niche things I needed done, but other than that ezpz

This is correct.
I didn't pick it for home labbing as a primary as I mostly use that machine for gaming, but just to show how well it works overall as a general purpose OS. I did end up switching over to their Dx branch for updates so that helped for some of that stuff as well.

Funny, those guys don't usually agree on that much

First time I've heard of that podcast and it sounds interesting. Is there a season that touches on it more than others or is it just an overarching theme throughout the different seasons and revolutions covered?

The person who replied to you is correct. I meant as a machine to write scripts on, manage servers, etc. I do agree though Bazzite probably isn't the best for everyone, but that's what is great about Linux, there is a OS for everyone

Don't know what constitutes "major", but if you expand out to the top 50 by population then over half have a mayor that is a PoC. A lot of those are in red states and are in trouble if these fascists start targeting blue dots specifically, I fear

Mastercard release a statement about game stores, payment processors and adult content

It almost certainly wasnt the card brands forcing the issue. They outsource that stuff to payment processors and other middle men because it's cheaper and gives them some legal shielding if someone buys something illegal with their cards

They're not payment processors. Not saying they're not at fault for anything, but the whole fucking payments industry is complicated as hell with a ton of different layers between different companies and anyone of them could've been the ones to cause this issue. People are just circle jerking on Visa and MC because they're the biggest dogs in the chain

I think that's all fair.
I was really interested in the idea of using it as a way of growing my offline and/or self hosted collection. Fair compensation for artists while still being able to have good new music discovery and grow my library at the same time would be really cool.
Still to be seen if they can manage, to your point, but I'll hold out a little hope until they lose their goodwill

I guess it depends on how much new music is released, added to the library, and then streamed by the users. It's a valid concern to be sure, but I wonder if it could be offset by user growth and new music to be a non issue

Mastercard release a statement about game stores, payment processors and adult content
Reply in thread
That's not quite true.
There are several layers between point of sale and the card brands and each layer is generally an independent company. Each of those companies makes or sells hardware and/or software that is used by the companies lower in the chain.
Square takes up several of these layers at once and charges much higher fees than other processors. The high fees and massive market coverage is why they exist, not because they're chewing through VC funds still.

I think the stream to own MP3 like you just downloaded from Bandcamp or something definitely has to be the model from the start. Then they can tweak it from there.
