Thoughts on why small talk is so uniquely painful

For me, I realize that I need to just say a couple of words to make it a pleasant exchange, but not being able to really share my feelings feels frustrating, kinda like how a kid feels frustrated when they need to moderate their feelings. A lot of the time I'm really exhausted and unhappy too so that makes it worse that I can't vent and have to moderate myself cuz I'm in a perpetual state of trying to keep my mask from slipping from burnout

George Washington *literally* had skin cancer.

Reply in thread

There is, an old friend of mine posted a ridiculous video about it on instagram....sure, there MAY be side effects to using sunscreen (not sunblock) that have turned up inconclusive in studies, but it has been proven that sunscreen and sunblock are VERY effective against skin cancer.

It's just like the "covid vaccines can have an extremely small possility of side effects so I'd rather get long covid and DIE!!"

While Android as a whole continues to shrink in the US, Google Pixel keeps growing

My Android phone fucking blows. The one I had prior was great but I lost it. I hate the constant alerts from the apps I can't delete, I can't take up close photos anymore without it looking like shit and not focusing, the screen will flip horizontal at random times when it's got the lock screen option turned on. I don't want a Google phone, though.

Anyone have opinions on the OnePlus phones?

People live like this

Oof; maybe they should hire a different real estate agent if they didn't suggest cleaning up a tad bit more....It looks like the people who live here have kids which can make cleaning a nightmare...Or they may have ADHD or depression and let it all get too overwhelming to tackle...But there are definitely people who just don't mind it at all. I've deep cleaned things and shown housemates how dirty the floor/tiles/whatever is, and they end up really shocked because they just couldn't see that whatever it was was dirty at all. It's wild to me

You probably don’t need a masters degree to debunk this one.

Hey I probably wouldn't know this if I wasn't heavily left leaning with an interest in learning about anarchism/communism along with having a pretty radical community that I've participated in. Mainstream politics, no matter how balanced they are, give no nuance at ALL. I searched for "antifa origins" and it took 3 pages of the search for me to even start scraping past US propaganda about the movement. In order to even find this source, I had to search for "antifa origins it's going down" because "it's going down" is a very radical leftist publication that I figure would have a countering narrative...All that to find a Smithsonian article lol.

We should try to be less hostile to people from other instances

This would be super helpful! I only have base level knowledge around communism, and it's so hard to find both information that isn't absolute western imperialist propaganda against communism, or any nuanced critiques from communists on China/Russia/etc. I think learning about the criticisms from an ML perspective and having them readily available would be valuable, because so many people think that communists pledge absolute unwavering support to anything even somewhat perceived as communist in the media, which I know isn't true, y'all are capable of critical thinking.

Looking for tips on eating

Reply in thread

Honestly I would bet that it is a burnout thing, but it's been a couple of years that the love of cooking has been decreasing....I guess it could still be burnout though 🫠🫠 since you're on keto, can you give me some other ideas of what you eat? It looks like charcuterie is the best option lol but yeah, sneaking veggies in is a must

What are some of your quirks?

Heck yeah measuring sibling! Hahaha I love that they're everywhere, easy access is important if you gotta measure RIGHT NOW!

I used to have two but I lost the large one somehow! It still upsets me to this day and it's been months lol. I want to get a mini Keychain one just because.

Temperature/humidity checking sounds kinda fun since it probably fluctuates a ton. Is there any particular tend you've noticed or that it fluctuates like, minute to minute or anything?
