Well deserved win for Norris. Feels like there was every opportunity for events to screw the fastest driver in the fastest car, despite the team making the right calls at the right time.

Often in f1 this kind of race ends up with a surprise winner. It’s part of what makes the sport so great, but also so frustrating at times. With Max having been so dominant over the past few seasons it’s just nice to see McLaren not dropping the ball.

Did anyone have roosters down as “the enemy”?

I think Piastri was faster because Norris was nursing his tires, and Piastri made mistakes because he was pushing it too hard. I think Norris had him beat - not by much - but had him beat by margins throughout the weekend and was a very deserving winner.

Tbh I think actually it produces the opposite of stability. In the U.K. we get lurches from left to right every decade or so. In most places with PR that’s just not possible due to the necessity of coalition formation. Often these coalitions are in stalemate: the main criticism of PR is that it produces ineffective government. If anything, FPTP is too effective: it’s almost always fewer people voting for the government than not, yet they get absolute power.

It’s not the same. The City of London is an official district, it’s about 1 square mile, it’s not like the whole of zone 1 - central london - it’s not like we’re talking about London vs Greater London. It’s still great to see, and it’s likely the growth applies to much of central london, and hopefully also the majority mode share.

Should the government not be looking to own its own rolling stock in the long term?

So it’s targets on wastewater and drinking water that we’re not implementing. These would require action by water companies, who already fail targets on releasing normal old shit.

Terrible match to watch: all sort of stop-start little fouls, play acting, time wasting, diving.

I felt Matinelli offered nothing on the wing - I don’t honestly feel he’s ever offered much beyond industriousness. I like his work ethic, but every time he gets the ball in a promising area I expect nothing to come of it and am rarely disappointed.
