Mates, today without warning, the reddit royal navy attacked. I've been demoded by the admins.

Reply in thread

I figured. If websites like unddit, ceddit, removeddit etc was able to recover deleted posts and comments, I'm sure the admins can do so too.

But we're also a crafty bunch. There must be a way to destroy the sub where reddit can't restore it properly. Like how a user can mass edit their own comments/posts before deleting them, so when reddit restore them back they would only show the edits instead of the originals. Basically use reddit's own feature against them if we can.

Even small thing like getting rid of the megathread and wiki would discourage people to go into the sub. It's information that people after, if we get rid of those then there's no point in going anymore. Slower death and a little anticlimactic that way though.

Ha, true! Accessibility is important. I'm contemplating whether or not to watch Bloodhound. Have you seen it? Heard the bromance is pretty good there

[Discussion] What Are You Watching?

I've mostly been watching currently airing dramas these days.

  • See You in My 19th Life (8/12) The pacing is pretty quick on this one since it's shorter. Things have started to unravel and I can't believe it will end next week!

  • King The Land (8/16) I'm sure by now everyone has gone crazy over that last scene on ep 8 lol! Consent is sexy indeed. Also, I really don't understand the hate Anupam Tripathi gets from this. His character was so adorable! I saw a comment on MDL that says his instagram was flooded with hate messages. The poor guy.

  • Numbers (4/16?) Haven't caught up with the latest 2 eps yet. Somehow I'm not really feeling this drama.

  • Dr Park's Clinic (8/12) Comedy and heartwarming drama on the life of Dr Park, an internal medicine doctor who just opened his own clinic. It's a good drama that I'm just watching very slowly these days.

Hello! I was hoping we could move over to lemmy.ml's kdrama community to combine our users. But it looks like we're all still quite comfortable over here somehow lol.

I'm watching both too, but enjoying 19th Life a bit more. I do think KTL feels easier to watch, and loved seeing the prince's character and those other drama references lol.

What kind of dramas do you normally watch?

Welcome! There are 3 of us here now! Wooo!!

What dramas have you been watching these days?

I've been watching King The Land and See You in My 19th Life the past week, and probably adding Numbers this week as well. I liked 19th Life much more than King, but still keen to follow the romance in King as I liked their chemistry after watching them here.

[Discussion] See You in My 19th Life [Full]

I agree with your first paragraph. I think the story about her first life was introduced pretty late in the series. We spent close to 9 out 12 episodes focusing only on her 18th life, with a little introduction here and there about her other lives, but not much (if at all) of her first. Then suddenly the focus shifted to her first life, because it was supposedly the most important one that started all this. Yea that's not going to work well in an already shorter drama.

As for your second part, I'm probably biased because I absolutely love Shin Hye Sun, but personally I don't think acting is the issue here. I see pacing as the main problem with this series (e.g. overuse of the pool and accident flashbacks). They are trying to fit too much materials into a shorter drama and had trouble with story/focus placements throughout.

I'm usually very forgiving in regards to acting, because I think it's unfair when actors and actresses get the criticism even when they are acting as directed and followed the script well.

One thing I want to say though. But first, SPOILER!! for those who haven't watched the series in full, because I still don't know how spoiler tag works here lol. I'm SO glad Seoha's dad turned out to be a fairly decent person! I was worried he was the mastermind behind the accident and somehow had something to do with his wife's death as well, but I'm glad that he was just a protective father and loved his son in his own way. I'm still not sure what was the reasoning behind the accident. I know the plan was just to scare them and it went overboard. But to scare them for what?

Anyway, I'm interested in the webtoon as well now. Where do you find them?

I don't know how fast you normally go through a drama, but this drama is ending next weekend anyway so you may be able to start watching soon. I'm dreading for it to end, but also very curious at the ending at the same time.

We're going to get another Shin Hye Sun's drama later this year! I'm quite excited for that one, especially since it involves romance with Ji Chang Wook.

I know right!! It's just so weird when everyone else seems to retain all their memories but ONLY her who had the memory erased. It would make more sense to have everyone else, except maybe Seoha, to forget her, so they could start to know each other again from the new beginning. Feels like a lazy ending by the writer/director.

Welcome! There are 4 of us now! Yea the one on chirp.social is the only kdrama community I found, but there was no post before this. I'm still trying out different lemmy apps on Android, but for some reason this one appears as ![email protected] as well. Is it because that's my instance (lemmy.world) and I created the first post? Anyway, this is still pretty new to me so will have to find out more.

How's Again, My Life? That's the one with Lee Joon Ki, right?

Finally, another user! So happy there are 2 of us now lol!

For some reason, the imgur link wouldn't load on my phone's browser. But not surprised with your impression of them. In my experience, they always seem to be more of a rule follower, and a very rigid one at that. Not sure if it's because the top mod works with law enforcement, though not as a law enforcement officer themself.

I still use Reddit on my third party app. If none of the third party apps work after this month, I'll probably go on Reddit much less. Lemmy has been great, but none of the communities I care the most are here. This community being one of them.

I need to check out Lies Hidden in My Garden, it's been mentioned often. Hopefully it's not of a makjang variety! Was Delightfully Deceitful boring? I feel that way towards King The Land, but still want to give it more chance. Loving See You in My 19th Life atm! I've seen people who've read the webtoon commenting that the drama stays true to the source so far and they like it too. Although apparently some things are not explained that well in the drama yet? But, it's early days and it's definitely the better drama out of the two I watch atm (King The Land being the other one).

You found us! Welcome to our tiny community! Yea this one was apparently created 2 years months ago? Doesn't look like it's on lemmy, probably on kbin mastodon. I'm still on both reddit and here (oh and discord too, keep forgetting I'm also there!) because my 3rd party app still works, but probably not for long.

Feel free to post any drama related posts here! The goal is to get people talking so our community can grow (so we can go back to lurking lol).

Edit: found the source on mastodon! Created April this year. Weird thing is I couldn't see lemmy posts on mastodon, and apparently plenty of users on mastodon had been tagging the community as well but doesn't show up here at all.

See You in My 19th Life - All Episodes Discussion Thread

Ep 5 and 6. Warning: contains spoiler!!!

Awww I keep tearing up seeing the sisters' interaction in the past! They're just so adorable together!

I'm also wondering why the shaman people only appeared now in her 19th life. She has reincarnated so many times before, and pretty sure it's not the first time she approached people from her previous lives (we even had flashback of that child who approached his previous mum I think). So why now? Is it because people in this life actually believed her, therefore something bad will happen to them?

I'm still watching ep 6 but just want to get this out here first.

What Kdrama do you recommend for a newbie?

Hopefully you can see my comment - I'm still learning about Lemmy. Adding my recommendations below.

Cute and chill dramas with heart melting scenes:

  • Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
  • Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
  • Love To Hate You
  • Hospital Playlist
  • Coffee Prince

Thriller with fucked up plot:

  • Crime Puzzle
  • Through The Darkness
  • Tell Me What You Saw
  • The Glory
  • Bad Guys
  • The Veil
  • Mouse
  • My Name
  • D.P. (Season 2 is coming out July 28th)
  • Big Mouth (I haven't seen this, but many people liked it until right at the last episode)

Heart melting chill dramas with not at all fucked up slightly thrilling plot:

  • Missing: The Other Side
  • Prison Playbook (same director as Hospital Playlist)

Generally Kdramas are less intense compared to their movie counterpart, due to broadcasting rules. Squid Game came out on Netflix, so it wasn't bound by their usual broadcasting rules due to it being on a streaming platform.

Hopefully that's a good list to get you started with. Let me know if you need more specific recommendations later.

PS: Squid Game 2 is coming out next year. They've announced the casts recently and have done some preliminary script reading. Likely to go into production soon.

[META] Greetings From lemmy.world

So this is how it looks from my end on ![email protected] community.

Yea I thought we could at least see the same posts across the fediverse, including those on mastodon, but apparently not yet. I'm still learning about fediverse, particularly lemmy, but I can see why people gets put off with it since it's not as easy to use as Reddit.

From what I gathered, World is struggling from the massive influx of users and has been lagging badly on my end too. Bigger is not always better it seems on the fediverse. I signed up to another smaller instance and things were much snappier there. I just don't know how to migrate all of my subbed communities over.

I KNOW RIGHT!!! Shin Hye Sun never disappoints, including her kisses!! I'm still remembering the ones in Mr Queen. Ah~~

I can't wait to see Driver Ha and Chowon's kisses next! His gaze for her has been so intense that I feel I should look away sometimes. If that's an indication how their kisses will be like, then oof... I will need a cold shower!

Eps 7 and 8 are really one revelation after another! Can't believe we're more than halfway there already, and that this drama will end next week! Sobs

[Discussion] Thoughts on business purposal?

I'm a little late to see your post as well.

I watched Business Proposal when it was airing and followed some of the discussions on Reddit's Kdrama sub. It was one of the more popular dramas that gets talked about often, even now. Where do you normally see convos about Kdramas? Because I see this drama mentioned often on MyDramaList and comments on Soompi as well, when anything related to romcom genre and/or the actors pops up.

I was a little bored with the drama at the beginning, but after a few episodes I was hooked with the development of the second couple. They have so much more chemistry than the first couple and just so fun to watch them together. I agree the ending was a little weak. If I'm not wrong, I read a comment that the drama was originally supposed to be longer but they decided to cut it down to 12 episodes, hence the somewhat abrupt ending. I just couldn't believe they planned for a longer series since there was barely any materials left after both couples got together.

Overall, I enjoyed it and got me interested enough to watch the actors interact with each other on interviews and games after the drama ended.
