Gen Z and millennial productivity is being crushed by bosses who don’t understand them, top university research says

Reply in thread

What my boomer dad doesn't get is that so much of corporate enterprise, like even the thing they are ideally making or doing in the world, not just the working conditions or profit sharing, is not unquestionably good for us. He's an engineer from a time when it looked like technology would save the world. My zoomer kid feels conflicted just starting a hobby thinking of the consumption and waste it requires. If they could believe the companies they work for shared their values I think it would go a long way, but i don't see that happening very quickly.

Instead of movies and crappy games on those in-flight displays, they should just stream the view out the cockpit window.

I love to have a window seat and just can't take my eyes off the landscape below. It's so amazing to see the plan of farms and cities, the aquaducts and rivers, the crinkled mountains deserts and coastline. Sometimes you can see the shadow of your own plane trace along the ground. Try to guess which lake this is. I guess a night flight is boring.

ChatGPT being investigated over reports of ‘laziness’

If the person asks for a piece of code, for instance, it might just give a little information and then instruct users to fill in the rest. Some complained that it did so in a particularly sassy way, telling people that they are perfectly able to do the work themselves, for instance.

It's just started reading through the less helpful half of stack overflow.

‘We are scared’: Gen Z may hold the keys to the White House, and the parties know it

The two parties are not going to figure this out. I think we are in the middle of one of those major shifts in the landscape. Probably still end up with only two, and one of them might keep its name, but it seems to me this country's leadership has simply outlived its ability to sense the world around it. They've patched over all sensory organs with some kind of insider-curated feed.
