Game misconduct

Reply in thread

You're posting on a lemmy.world server community and they have rules against talking about illegal things in their countries (Netherlands, Finland, Germany). This includes calls of violence and they consider comments encouraging violence to be illegal/ against the rules. If you go to lemmy.world and scroll to bottom they link to their bylaws.

It started when the united health ceo was murdered. Anyone who showed support of it was getting moderated. Eventually they clarified that we can speak of factual things but we can't make calls for further violence. So i can say i didn't lose any sleep when the united health ceo was murdered. I cant say anything that calls for more violence against other ceos.

The fediverse is great but now you have an extra layer of rules: your server rules (dbzer0 is pretty good), server rules of whatever community you're posting in, and the community rules of the comm you're posting in.

Still gets less moderated than reddit mods who love to powertrip

All men rule

Reply in thread

the frat bro demographic is not representative of all men so it's a bit false equivalence to base generalizations of all men from the Cornell 7.

But you can and should be wary of a man or group of men. Not because all men are necessarily bad, but because at least some are, and the cost of finding out is too great to not be wary. And of those bad men, some will say and do all the right things until they have you in a disadvantaged position. So be wary and be loud

But if there are any men out there who think they are one of the good ones then please understand this isn't about you. It's about a large societal problem. You can still be a "good one" but you will have to show it through your actions. And that includes holding other men accountable when they are in the wrong.

If every man thinks they're one of the good ones then that part of the message still applies to them.

You're right, morality isn't gender based. I didn't say it excludes holding women accountable, i said it includes holding men accountable. It can include lots of things. Whatever your morality may be, live it. Don't just speak it.

But if you're cool with knowingly letting a man rape a woman, which is what my "includes" referred to, then feel free to say it explictly because you're bluntness really didn't make that clear for me.

Why is "sunsetting" used as a term to indicate a service is shutting down?

The sun only rises after it sets because of inertia-- billions of years of the earth spinning. The earth only continues to spin because there's hardly any friction on a meaningful scale to slow it down which is why we just assume the earth will continue to spin and the sun will rise tomorrow.

Products are different though. They constantly fight friction slowing them down and only exist because someone invests in them and continues to support them. When a company "sunsets" a product they are removing their active involvement. In this analogy the product slows to a stop and the "sun" doesn't rise again.

It is still a pretty pretentious analogy though
