People that keep mindlessly talking about EEE are doing more disservice than Meta itself.

Most people don't have a clear grasp of the technical concepts, keep talking about defederating something that doesn't exist yet, keep copy-pasting the same things over and over, and this slows the conversation about the fediverse philosophy, the real problems and the possible solutions.

The fediverse is it's in infancy, this could be a great chance to find some of its underlying issues and make it more resilient and healthy.

Twitter people going to threads is completely independent from anything in the fediverse. Those people won't even notice any difference if they are federated or not.

I don't know what a cooling center is, but there is AC everywhere, and when there isn't it's a choice of the owner to avoid installing it.

I love how people here try to put this in practical terms like "when you need to pay something 100 is better". It's infinite. Infinite. The whole universe is covered in bills. We all would probably be dead by suffocation. It makes no sense to try to think about the practicality of it. Infinite is infinite, they are the same amount of money, that's all.

There are a few technical problems with that. First of all, the cost of each instance would become quickly unbearable since everyone has all the duplicated data.

Second problem, a malign entity could just come, create its own instance, spam everything and everyone with ads or whatever and suddenly every instance is full of that stuff. Also, how do you handle defederating in that case?

To use your example, if we federate people will join the meta instance, if we don't federate people won't even know the lemmy.world instance exists, and even if they do they would still join the meta one if it's bigger.

I think people are seriously overreacting. From what I see all changes seems to be done with a positive intention (not saying that the balance will be better or worse, but their intention is to make it better)

They have been struggling to find a good and sustainable content delivery system since the start of the game, this is just the latest idea. And there is no aggressive monetization in it, it's still the cheapest model between all the main mmos. Expansion/content ratio got a bit more expensive compared to before, true, but it's hardly aggressive or expensive. To be honest we had it way too cheap until now compared to the average market prices, it's understandable. And until now they always offered super cheap bundles for old expansion after a bit, if someone prefers to wait a bit and save money.

And I'm having a hard time to see how more weapons on all elite specs + new core weapons can be negative in any kind of way (outside of balance concerns, but I haven't seen anyone worry about that) The new combat changes don't even require the new expansion from what I got...

And the new reward system is just daily/weekly/monthly achievements but hopefully done better.

In Italy cheese is absolutely not required, even if Margherita is the most common base so most pizzas have cheese. Even so, there are many types of pizza with no cheese, and many others with no tomato.

It's also very common to see pizza farcita, which you can imagine as a pizza sandwich. For example a very common one is "pizza e mortazza" in Rome, which is a pure puzza with no topping but filled with mortadella (a type of ham). But various kinds of fillings are possible

Another example would be focaccia, most of them don't have any cheese at all.

There is even sweet pizza with no cheese, for example pizza with Nutella

I haven't had a chance to test almost at all sadly, but I think the biggest gain would be for revenant condi builds. Having shortbow on all specs is really a big improvement since the only core condi set was mace/axe

I've also heard people liking scepter daredevil but I haven't tried it yet
