Interesting concept and I wanted to try it. Downloaded from Aurora (because my phone is degooglized) and was kicked out of the game upon launch because google play isn't enabled.. Disappointing and I'd love to have it on F Droid too

fixed it by blocking the element

Which one? That'd certainly help to know how to do that

Article is already gone (legal issues?) in case you were interested in reading it the internet archive has a copy https://web.archive.org/web/20250824200906/https://bobdahacker.com/blog/monster-energy

Is there more of this somewhere? That chick is 🌋

Finally ! For those interested it's around the 02:14:00 mark

They have still a long way to go to be worse than google

Sad news, I’m still impressed that they didn’t kill their Harmony servers though, fingers crossed !

Sorry I've been out of the loop, the encrypted sync isn't safe anymore? I'm using forks since a while but I rely heavily on sync

Thanks a ton for your writeup and sharing your experience.

I have the exact same setup and I’m struggling more and more with apps with require Google Play to launch. I’ll use your workaround hoping that it’ll open a path for a while although I’m also dubious about the future.

Looks great but the lack of mobile app is a deal breaker :/

You can see here that I'm torn apart by doubts!

I like it a lot too and it'd be perfect if it had a dark theme, I feel like I'm waiting on this since ages

I'm wondering the same thing as well, seems very risky

What's funny is that it's still ongoing since months / years, I arrived in Lemmy when Reddit went crazy about it sometimes felt like the Far West, today things have largely settled down and I'd be glad if we could get rid of this because it's really confusing

Thanks for your reply ! My last unit lasted 9 years so that counts but looking at feedback from recent models it looks like a lot of progress has been made already so I'm not sure if it's worth it to worry that much

Exactly, I can't believe we are still in this since years, can't wait for the next trend hoping it won't get worse..

I was going to talk about it too ! Even though I'm on fish (which helps a lot with history search) atuin really changed my habits and made my life easier !

I miss them so much

add-ons on Orion

It's great to know that they are working better now, last time I tried almost none was functionnal and it was quite a pain to install / uninstall / switch source (Firefox / Chrome version) in the hopes of it finally working. I’ll have a look, since then I’ve been using Brave + piHole and it was more or less decent.

Where did you go?
