I'm a longtime user of Standard Notes. It's an incredible app and I love it.

Recently, I've started using Granola to transcribe my work meetings. It's very useful but ultimately I don't trust it: It's proprietary, and I don't know what it's doing with my data. I would love to get off of Granola but I don't know of any FOSS alternative.

It occurs to me that Standard Notes could come in useful here. SN/Proton is probably the only company that I would trust to protect the privacy of my meeting transcriptions. If they added this feature, I would gladly pay (or hopefully it could be added to my existing Proton subscription). And since Proton already has an in-house AI, I would feel safe using their model.

Alternately, I could try to build my own meeting transcription/notes tool, the way this guy did for Linux. That would meet some of my needs: I could have a locally-run AI that transcribes my meetings and another that converts those transcripts into notes. That would preserve my privacy. But building an entire app (that syncs between clients on MacOS, Windows, and Android) is WAY beyond me right now. Would love to simply pay the good folks at Proton/SN!

Unless someone else has found a way to make this work?

Recently, when I try to log in to a site, Firefox has started suggesting email addresses I've recently used. Note that these are not my saved addresses; those are different. (And I want to keep those.) This box is interfering with my Bitwarden autofill. How do I turn this off?

Can someone who knows more about AI agents explain this to me?

Axios quotes an Anthropic spokesperson re: the Claude leaks, who says that this new capability is coming: "A "persistent assistant" running in background mode that lets Claude Code keep working even when a user is idle. "

Isn't that what they claim "agents" are doing already? Or am I missing something? I would hate to learn that "agents" are just a marketing term and they don't actually do the thing these companies claim... ;)

This weekend, Amazon is premiering its $40 million Melania Trump documentary. It already seems to be a flop.

We're going to add insult to injury by messing up Melania's Amazon search results. Specifically, we're going to amplify the paranormal erotic thriller novel Melania: Devourer of Men so it ranks higher than her movie.

The book is perfect: It's absurd, the cover is ridiculous, and it's free, so we're not giving Amazon any money.

Currently, the book ranks #29 in Amazon search results for Melania. But all the other Melania results seem pretty weak (lol), so we can pull this off pretty easily. We just need people to:

1. "Buy" the book (it's free)
2. Share this post and get other people to "buy" the book.

That's it.
