I am once again asking...

Frequent lurker here, I just have such a hard time getting my thoughts out into words that’s relevant to a conversation. Add in an irrational amount of aversion to negative feedback (real or perceived) and it just feels better to just keep scrolling.

One day I’ll get better at this, it’s not easy when my socializing experience has been dominated with negativity both online and offline.

100 days

We only just narrowly escaped having a conservative government this election.

What’s really concerning is that the conservatives got a pretty big boost in the number of seats compared to the last election so there’s a significant amount of people that don’t mind having MapleMAGA running the country.

Check If You Qualify For The Canadian Dental Care Plan

Reply in thread

The premiers didn’t want to take on Dental Care, and threw hissy fits when the federal funding was conditional on the provinces to follow through on covering dental care instead of just sitting on the funding allocation to claim a “surplus” .

Also, healthcare really should be more of a federal responsibility imo. There’s no reason why we can’t have a more central structure that the provinces could benefit from, especially when it comes to purchasing and negotiating power under 1 country vs all provinces and territories having to go alone currently.

Parents

Basically my upbringing in a nutshell. Had a parent gaslight me on my own gender identity since early on in my childhood and even made assumptions on my own bodily needs (overfeeding when I’m complaining that I’m stuffed, while bringing out more food for me to eat. Also not believing that I have to go to the bathroom as often as I asked, leading to accidents that I’ve been punished over).

And then they wonder why I barely talk

Doug Ford doesn’t care about students

This is informative, but somewhat unsurprising. PCs promising what’s already been committed and making no further statements.

Then Liberals promising to drastically expedite improvements while remaining vague (to me atleast) in the wording

Finally, the NDP has the most solid looking plan with realistic/reasonable looking promises that could actually be implemented within a term or 2.

If only people could look past the bribes and slogans and get out to vote, we could at least get a government that’s _actually _ for the people, and not just in the folksy type of platitudes

Delays, Trudeau resignation threaten Toronto-Quebec City high-frequency rail project

Reply in thread

Even if a transit infrastructure project is announced and then funded right after an election, it would take up most of a term for the pre-project work to be completed before shovels even hit the ground. There’s utilities that would need to be mapped and relocated, land to expropriate to start, which I believe has to happen before contracts are signed.

Then there’s always going to be a vocal opposition group throwing obstacles in a major project, whether it’s because there’s no train station serving villages and hamlets, or the sight of a train will ruin people’s views of sprawling parking lots, or groups of people whose land is being expropriated at fair market value not wanting to give up property and going through legal challenges which take time to sort.

Even writing this out, it seems like a transit project does take a great deal of political will to push through, especially before shovels hit the ground.

With our current political representation setup, a big swing in majority governments means that an opposing party in power can just rip up contracts and pay out the penalty fees (or legislate away recourse for a project cancellation) which takes much less effort and provides an immediate win for their side.

I Never Reply

I feel a preemptive pain when I receive a message, almost as if I’m going to get yelled at for taking too long to reply or for not fully understanding the message from every contextual angle possible to understand a hidden meaning that I’m supposed to infer from, or for expressing the wrong emotion/tone.

It even happens when I just see the message notification
