But those book bans...

It’s one of the weird cognitive dissonances that I grew up with from the Christian church as a kid. They would say these things so casually, but then refuse to talk about sex or bodies. It’s just… bizarre. And took some unpacking and unlearning to get to a healthy place about bodies.

Why is body related violence so casually referred to, even in children’s books, but then they try to breeze past the weird sex stories in there at the same time.

It was just… weird. It’s still weird. I can’t help but shake my head and thank my lucky stars I got out of there when I did, right at the beginning of adulthood.

Choice posting

I feel like the same people who are antiabortion are pro circumcision. This meme makes it sound like it’s the pro choice crowd are also the ones pushing circumcision, which is misleading no?

I feel like there’s minimal overlap between the people who drive these trucks with these flags and the people on Lemmy…

Might not be askin in the right place. Or in the place where you’re gonna get a real answer.

When in doubt, I always assume people don’t really think that deeply about it. Their brain was probably like “Truck. Flag. Cool.”

Regarding the “Rust” shooting.

Reply in thread

There’s a few reasons why he was charged, both as an actor and producer. Gun safety just can’t be fucked around with.

In the document, prosecutors accused Baldwin of “many instances of extremely reckless acts” during the film’s production.

They wrote that Baldwin “was not present” for mandatory firearms training before filming began. He was instead provided on-set guidance but prosecutors allege he was “distracted and talking on his cell phone to his family.” The training session was scheduled for an hour but was only 30 minutes long due to Baldwin’s “distraction” on the phone.

… The prosecutor’s statement described several “acts or omissions of recklessness” on the set of Rust. This included foregoing the use of a prop gun during unscheduled rehearsals, willful ignorance toward on-set safety complaints and a lack of armourer-performed safety checks.

Ben Shapiro Calls for Boycott of Zoltar Machine That Wouldn’t Make Him Big

God they’re good

“It’s outrageous that these devices are allowed to perpetuate lies,” said Shapiro, standing on his tippy toes. “I paid a quarter, an American quarter, to a machine that was probably manufactured in China. I made my wish. I spoke clearly and with authority. I said ‘I wish I was big.’ The machine started laughing at me and then deposited a piece of paper for me to read that said, ‘Your wish has not been granted.’ I climbed down off the box I take everywhere with me and I left the carnival right there and then. Stay tuned for seven or eight more podcasts about this exact situation.”
