Anubis - Weighs the soul of incoming HTTP requests using proof-of-work to stop AI crawlers

It's a clever solution but I did see one recently that IMO was more elegant for noscript users. I can't remember the name but it would create a dummy link that human users won't touch, but webcrawlers will naturally navigate into, but then generates an infinitely deep tree of super basic HTML to force bots into endlessly trawling a cheap-to-serve portion of your webserver instead of something heavier. Might have even integrated with fail2ban to pick out obvious bots and keep them off your network for good.

"Free" Speech Absolutist™

People are concerningly naive if they think the LLM is in any way connected to the tweet boosting algorithms. Grok is just spitting out what people usually claim is being delisted by social media platforms.

The thing is, it's probably correct by coincidence, moreso that it's Elon personally delisting people criticising him and boosting whatever nazi shit he's into that week.

framed rule

potential explanations:

it's him and he genuinely wasn't running (as his confession suggests), whilst also being chased by the police surveillance state, so even if he was running it would take meticulous planning to truly avoid the cops.

it's him and he planned to get caught and the confession, the inconsistencies etc. are intended to make prosecuting him "without a doubt" incredibly difficult. You can bet money on his lawyer knowing a lot of these inconsistencies too, and exploiting them in court.

it's him but he's trying to obscure his motives etc. for [reason]. (unlikely)

it isn't him but a lookalike who's being framed for it because of [conspiracy theory]. (unlikely)

it isn't him but a lookalike who framed themselves for [reason]. (unlikely)

Asahi Lina quits Linux graphics development

Hector and others were really bad losses for the Rust kernel devs but Lina? That's catastrophic. She was a figurehead in getting apple silicon working so well on Linux that even Linus moved his development machine to an M1 Macbook.

Linus has royally fucked it with how long he sat on the side of this. Im so sorry to Lina and others who have been burned by this community.

They're starting to notice for sure

"dead internet theory" is great until the users start acting like it's not a symptom of the platforms they're using, and just the reality for all of the internet.

Reddit, Instagram, Facebook are all websites struggling to maintain user counts which bring ad revenue and investment. Since investors and ad platforms can't tell between real and fake users, there is MASSIVE incentive to allow bots on your website.

Moreso for sites like Reddit and Twitter that shit all over their user base and had to quickly mask their haemorrhaging support before the shareholders could complain.

"But they're just TV shows" "it's not that deep" etc. I would implore you to listen to this excellent episode of Citations Needed..

It covers how modern cop shows were invented directly to counter shows that portrayed defence lawyers as the protagonists, along with a general push to lionize the police state despite its inability to prevent crime or deliver real justice.
