This script is good for desktop, but not great for mobile. If your primary interaction is on a mobile device, probably check the comments for (much) better alternatives.

I can't believe you don't need anything from WEWEQ or GOVEEUOO or QUOPEO. These are household brand names!

seems unlikely (to me) that this would be intentional from reddit's side. You'd think they would be VERY interested to see how this really impacts site traffic and how much "protest" they can absorb before taking administrative action against mods/subreddits.

Hot is somewhat stale at the moment. This is apparently due to the spike in users voting and the subsequent decrease in active users. So posts that garnered a high number of votes are pushing down other, newer posts making those older top posts somewhat sticky.

The recommended trick is to, for now, sort by "New" or "Top Day." Your mileage may vary, obv.

They need people who work well under pressure

I prefer the information density of old.reddit. The wasted space of the default lemmy UI irks me.

But I am also old and crotchety. If the spread out / modern UI of Lemmy (and squabbles.io and tildes and new.reddit) weren't more desirable, they (probably) wouldn't be coded that way.

Yeah, this has served as a massive wake-up call to a lot of talented devs. It will ultimately result in more talent choosing to focus on the "alternatives," which is good. It's too bad its happening this way, but the process was never going to be pleasant.

Yeah, so this relies on a browser extension called Tampermonkey (or greasemonkey depending on your browser).

You install the extension, then create a "new script" and paste in the code above. Then save, refresh the page, and Bob's your uncle (or Betty's your aunt)!

Yeah, this sure. But I think primarily Reddit doesn't want its platform to be used to organize and protest. This is how they are setting the stage.
