Xfwl4 Preview Release Available

Reply in thread

I understand your concern.

At this point, there are no plans to deprecate support for X11. So, if your config is working now with 4.20, it should still continue to work with Xfce 4.22. I can't say for sure how, of if, your concerns will be supported with xfwl4. I'd recommend trying xfwl4 when you are comfortable and file bugs against it if your current config doesn't work.

It's still to be determined if/how the next release of Xfce(4.22) will incorporate the work currently being done with xfwl4.

Xfce is moving from IRC to Matrix

Reply in thread

There are no plans, that I am aware of, for an Xfce-specific Matrix client.

Currently, I am using gomuks, a Go-based terminal client and it is working ok for me, so far. I've also been using the Element app; but, it it too resources intensive for my current desktop.

Policy changes to registration at gitlab.xfce.org

Reply in thread

I'm not sure that I understand your comment.

Permissions and access still needs to be managed and abuse mitigated.

gitlab.xfce.org is a self-hosted instance of GitLab and we have to take preventative measures to deal with the creation of spam accounts. Contributors can either do that with SSO from an account they have at either gitlab.com or github.com. This does not require Xfce dev intervention.

If one does not want to use SSO, they can contact us on Matrix and an account will be created manually.

P.S. Xfce does not have any employees. We are all volunteers.

Welcome to c/xfce!

Could someone submit a new post here? Perhaps a screenshot of their desktop or perhaps a support question? I'd like to make sure that permissions are OK for the general riff-raff can post here. :-)

Thanks!
