Your kid marries a much older person for money; how do you manage?
She's an adult and I assume she's mentally capable. Just support her and when/if she ever regrets her decision, she'll have you around to lean on.
If you openly hate on her decision or shame her for it, you're only going to drive her away or make her even more firm in her choice.

California moves to decriminalize use of magic mushrooms and other natural psychedelics
Sure hope there's going to be education available alongside the psychedelics for sale acquisition.
It'll help people learn about set and setting, etc., but most importantly, education and prep will mean less bad trips and less idiots running their mouths to the anti-drug crowd.

As far as public support goes, why aren't disabilities and chronic illnesses treated in a similar manner to LGBT issues?
I mean, you're basically describing the point of intersectional activism.

Not to mock, but to test the separation of church and state and whether all religions really are allowed to participate.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) waiting outside unmarked van
Reply in thread
My favorite so far is the people who follow these fuckers around with megaphones and broadcast the rights people have when dealing with ICE, numbers of local lawyers and advocates, and other instructions to help people either avoid the interaction or at least have a fighting chance to due process if they are detained.

Is there an actual/viable youtube alternative or will google forever have an iron fist as a video platform?
Don't forget Pornhub. If they spun off a non-porn-centric version of their platform, they might be able to take a substantial market share, given their existing infrastructure. And as a bonus, they already have creator monetization tools.

Nebraska governor signs order narrowly defining sex as that assigned at birth
Can't wait for them to remember that trans men exist. There's going to be a lot of shocked Pikachu Republicans when men who look like men show up in "women's spaces" because they're being forced to.
Wish I could be a fly on the wall to see that fucking awesome scenario.
And trans women are going to get harassed or worse for complying with this law. Fuck all this so much.
Seriously, trans folks, you don't deserve this bullshit and I hate that your existence is the controversy of the moment for Republicans. Be well and take care of yourselves <3.

Pelosi will seek reelection
VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES Such a small amount of people decide who ends up on the ballot. And an overwhelming majority of incumbents get reelected due to primaries.
Please please please vote! Even if you like the person in the lead, consider voting for someone who might not win but will send a message to the party that their policies need to be folded into the party platform, etc.

Even if this were true, I'd vote for a banana peel over Trump because at least the banana peel won't do anything to dismantle election integrity.

So much siding, but it keeps getting worse
Here's my two shots in the dark to explain this monstrosity:
Retired couple buys one of those workshop/huge garage and apartment combos. They decide to turn the workshop into an event space for weddings.
They add a few conveniences for the wedding party, like a couple extra bedrooms to get ready, and a black and red honeymoon suite. The decor is hideous because retired wife is old af and it looks good to her. Retired husband sucks at DIY, like electrical and room layout, but doesn't let small things like planning get in his way.
Grandson works at a siding company that mainly does B2B installs and often has leftovers. Sometimes he grabs other overage from the project after talking to other tradies, like a banister here and there. Maybe an orphan cabinet base.
Grandson wants to start his own siding business one day so he is happy to practice installs on the wedding rental building.
Alternative: Fundie church does secret child marriages here and the couple that maintains the property is allowed to live there as well. The ugliness of the property is because they're purely utilitarian and just need a facade of wedding shit because it's not really about the wedding as much as it's about keeping it on the down-low.

Bernie Sander to the Mainstream media: "go to Gaza, and take your camera show us the emaciated children who are dying from malnutrition because of Netanyahu's policies."

In 2016, toward the end of the lead up to the primaries, Bernie polled higher than HRC when they were each given as an option to oppose Trump. I was in rural New York at the time and it was surprising to see so many Bernie signs. Somehow, he was able to reach blue collar America where other, recent Democrats have lost ground.
As a populist, Bernie was a stronger candidate against the other "populist" (Trump) than the institution candidate (HRC). Naturally, the DNC would rather lose against a wannabe-dictator than back someone who doesn't swallow their entire load.
