I work in IT. I think it's popular because it's "free".
With that said, I put up a picture on the office wall of a Swiss army knife with features like syringe, fire extinguisher, axe, etc and have it labeled Microsoft Teams. Yes, it can do 100 different tasks, fucking poorly.

sorry I'm genuinely out of the loop, but how is gta 6 supporting some of the worst oligarchy and authoritarianism?

Learning Linux can be difficult but fuck is it satisfying when you figure something out!
different goals and different way of tackling problems is maybe why people struggle with Linux? like someone only knowing Western languages taking up Chinese , where they approached the communication issue a bit differently. apple and Microsoft wanted a user friendly experience that everyone in the family can use a computer.
how Linux works is a good book if you want to learn more indepth. also something like Linux from scratch. not only will you learn a lot about Linux, but operating system design, networking, storage, etc. doing this will legit give you a better foundation than quite a few IT technicians.

Universities drop AI detection tools over fears about accuracy: Some institutions are overhauling assessment and trying to move away from the emphasis on surveillance

I work in higher education at legitimate public colleges, and increasingly, many degrees feel like little more than credentials sold for tuition. Instructors may never meet their students, courses often consist of recycled online content and multiple-choice quizzes, and students commonly rely on ChatGPT.
The quality of instruction can be equally troubling. I have seen someone earn a cybersecurity certificate and begin teaching the subject the following semester, while another instructor requires programming assignments to be printed on paper. After working at two reputable colleges within a large public system, and seeing the poor quality of my wife’s recent master’s program, it is difficult not to view much of higher education as a sham.

What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've seen while driving on the highway?
Driving to Texas. Half way there, at night, not many cars on the road, I seen glow on the left side of the road. Slowly I notice it's a fire. As I get closer I noticed it was a pickup truck fully engulfed.
I ended up just driving without stopping because: I had somewhere I needed to be and I was exhausted Anyone that was in that truck was already dead

Everyone deserves to experience nature
This might be the one created by the owner of Action Sports in Marshall Minnesota. I believe it is a son and a son in-law, around 2006 one of them had an accident and became paralyzed. Next year, the other had an accident and became paralyzed. This guy made this wheelchair for them. He sells the wheelchairs as well.
Googled it. Called the Action Track Chair.

What're some of the dumbest things you've done to yourself in Linux?
I accidentally wiped my backup. I'm redoing my storage setup and had the backup laying nearby.
I was stunned. I immediately gave up and went to bed.

Men over 30, what, if anything, do you watch on YouTube?
I find myself guilty of watching YouTube Shorts. Besides that, plenty of movie scenes because I can't bother to watch a 2 hour long movie any longer. A lot of my saved videos are of things I want to learn. Lately about gesture drawing and watercolor painting. Then I skip through those videos and frequently increase playback to 1.25-1.5 speed.

Why do YOU homelab?
Few reasons. One, to help me advance in my career. Two, because I like the idea of open source. Three, tech business are kind of acting evil for money, so I'm going back to being self reliant and piracy.
