I'll give some tips.

Glass nail files can help keep the nails from splitting at the tips.

moisturizing the nails seems to make them a little more durable too. They make special stuff for this, but I just use regular moisturizer.

some polishes need more than one (or even two!) coats.

certain colors seem to behave differently than other colors ie: yellow polishes are much harder to work with than red.

don't get as worried about the finish until you put the top coat on. The top coat hides a lot of irregularities.

experiment with different base coats and top coats. They can produce wildly different effects. some base coats are simple and durable, while others can have ridge filling properties, and others still can be peelable. Top coats also vary in quality and effect like having matte finishes or extra sparkles.

If you ever struggle to open a bottle, run it under hot water for a while and try again.

Mine worked fine on my legs, hurt at first but gradually got to the point where it didn't even hurt that much. I only stopped using it because I am too lazy to clean the darn thing. Was horrible for belly hair though. Kept getting ingrown hairs.

I use to use mine regularly, it was nice ergonomically to change between the trackpad and touchscreen. My arm needs a rest from being tucked up next to the trackpad. This makes most sense if the laptop is on your actual lap. Can't do it anymore since my laptop broke.

I have a silk epil 5. I havent had any issues with battery life. It's painful when you start epilating because all your hairs are gonna be full thickness. After pulling the hairs out a couple times it gets a lot less painful because the new hairs are a lot thinner and younger. It doesn't hurt at all anymore for me. For hairs that are already thin, epilating doesn't work very well, since the tweezers cant grab on.

I view epilating as a supplemental hair removal method though. It doesn't make the legs perfectly smooth, but it makes hair so thin and so slow growing that I shave probably twice a week. And I only epilate once every 3 or 4 weeks.

It also seems to only work on my legs and thighs. Ive tried epilating my belly and thats what gave me a bunch of ingrown hairs.

They also make ridge filling base coats which can reduce the ridged look on the polish. I haven't tried them though so I dunno how well they work.
