I just saw someone on one of my fb groups saying she's heard a lot about reddit lately and wanting to make an account and asking how it works.

I tried to ward her off but the negative press just seems to be enticing new users.

Trying to explain this to non native English speakers at my work is hilarious. It's a rule that I don't even know the parameters of. It just is!

Same here. Ran a script to edit all my comments explaining why they're edited and that I refuse to let reddit benefit from my input anymore.

Not a great argument. If they're brain dead then correct, they're no longer sentient. Therefore I wouldn't disagree with pulling the plug at all.

Nope, not in the slightest. If anything I'm grateful. My sleep pattern has improved and my screen time is down.

Someone suggested using different instance accounts like multi reddits. Then you just jump between accounts, depending what stuff you feel like seeing then.

Another idea was making accounts on instances that interest you and using their local posts to find other things that are similar.

Eg I have a feddit UK account which I plan to make a localised UK focused one.

Even the belly buttons match!

I'm a bit confused but I'm getting there. I've figured out I can sign into lemmy.world but otherwise I keep getting account errors. World seems decent enough though

Does it show up repeatedly on your profile? I used to use that as a way to track double posting on reddit
