AI or DEI?

This just shows that AI sucks for getting accurate information. Even if it didn't hallucinate black people, it would've been just as wrong, just with white skinned queens. Now the lies just line up with "current social freakout of conservatives".

Angry stickers telling tourists to ‘go home’ appear on buildings in Malaga

Reply in thread

Tourism often doesn't benefit the people living in these towns. The hotels and Airbnbs are usually owned by outsiders and big companies. The people living and working in a tourist town often don't see much benefits, besides that their town is now very expensive, regular people are forced to move out, making it harder to have a regular store, because all your customers are now tourists. If too much of a town serves tourism it's typically bad for the regular inhabitants.

‘Deluded’ Hamas made a ‘catastrophic miscalculation’, say Palestinian analysts

Meanwhile, civilians in Gaza endure a deepening humanitarian catastrophe. Law and order has broken down across the coastal enclave as Hamas’s civil control over northern Gaza and large swathes of the south has been ended.

I don't think the problem is Hamas failing to provide "law and order" but Israel's ongoing genocide that is causing the "deepening humanitarian catastrophe".

Hamas releases doc denying atrocities, blaming Israel for civilian deaths on Oct 7,In a 16-page document, the group seeks to justify the October 7 resistance

Hamas and PIJ militants attacked 20+ civilian communities and killed over 10% of the civilian population of the entire region with the explicit purpose of ethnically cleansing the area

VS

The civilian casualties in Gaza are a very sad fact of combat in a densely populated urban area

1200 deaths are a genocide, 37,000 deaths of which 25,000 in just the last 3 months is simply an unavoidable tragedy. Whatever makes you sleep at night I guess.

He didn't start Tesla, he bought his way in. The guy hasn't had a single original thought in his life. He just invests in companies that sound cool to him, he doesn't give a shit about the future or the current state of humanity. And he stole that wealth by exploiting the people that work for him. Stop idolizing wealthy people.

The "fuck immigrants over" party is not popular with immigrants. Big surprise.

Republicans fuck over so many people, then they have to resort to crazy schemes like gerrymandering and voter suppression to not lose all the time. If they want to win, maybe do more popular things! This also goes for Joe Biden: all this complaining about leftist not voting for him, but he does nothing to convince them either.

US says no troops to Haiti as country reels from explosion of gang violence

Reply in thread

From Wikipedia:

Fearful of the potential impact the slave rebellion could have in the slave states, U.S. President Thomas Jefferson refused to recognize the new republic. The Southern politicians who were a powerful voting bloc in the American Congress prevented U.S. recognition for decades until they withdrew in 1861 to form the Confederacy.

Later:

Fearing possible foreign intervention, or the emergence of a new government led by the anti-American Haitian politician Rosalvo Bobo, President Woodrow Wilson sent U.S. Marines into Haiti in July 1915. The USS Washington, under Rear Admiral Caperton, arrived in Port-au-Prince in an attempt to restore order and protect U.S. interests. Within days, the Marines had taken control of the capital city and its banks and customs house. The Marines declared martial law and severely censored the press. Within weeks, a new pro-U.S. Haitian president, Philippe Sudré Dartiguenave, was installed and a new constitution written that was favorable to the interests of the United States. The constitution (written by future US President Franklin D. Roosevelt) included a clause that allowed, for the first time, foreign ownership of land in Haiti, which was bitterly opposed by the Haitian legislature and citizenry.

Ben-Gvir says Israeli army can shoot women, children in Gaza

It's easy from the privilege of safety to say that Israel has no choice but to keep Palestinians locked up in their open air prison, because you imagine that they might take revenge when they get out.

This is the exact argument that white people made to not free the enslaved people. The real solution is freedom for everyone, from the river to the sea.

They are being kept there, they are not allowed to leave. Normally I would call that a prison, but prison would imply that they were convicted of a crime, which they weren't. They are kept there, because Israel considers Palestinians to be an undesirable ethnicity. That is a concentration camp. You are conflating concentration camp with the nazi death camps.

But capitalism specifically favors the greedy and individualistic. It's no surprise that if you base your society on capitalism, people will get more greedy.

On top of that, capitalism enables some uniquely capitalistic evils, such as commodity fetishism and alienation.

Also, some consider capitalism inherently unjust, making it an evil in its own right.

It must be rough being a living paradox

The far right also supports Israel because that means they can send Jews there. It fits their worldview of every race/ethnicity having their own land. There is no paradox. Besides, Jews and Muslims are killing each other over there. This is why all these far-right politicians are so very Zionist.
