I live on the edge of urban/suburban in a small city and absolutely love it. 10 minutes to bike into downtown, tons and tons of businesses and job opportunities, and just a much better community atmosphere. Anytime I go into more suburban/exurban areas, it's downright depressing at this point knowing that it takes 5 minutes in a car to get to literally anything that's not another identical house.

It's honestly both the funniest and saddest thing is that he's only become shittier and more miserable as he's gotten richer. There's pretty much a direct correlation between the two.

Literally every political advocacy org in my area has absolutely exploded and we're at a point where we're having to pause memberships because there are so many people trying to join.

Real change takes a bit of fucking time and I'm so, so, so sick and tired of all the people who act like no one is doing anything, while they themselves do fuck-all but doom scroll on Lemmy and post about how it's all over.

It's so real, especially early in transition. I remember chatting with a coworker via Teams about cars, and he was being really weird about trying to flex his car, getting really upset I wasn't fawning over it, and being extremely dismissive of basically every opinion I had. I think you're underestimating just how stupid and impulsive Elon is. Reminder that this is a man who decided to get rid of the color yellow at the factory, simply because he doesn't like it. IASIP is honestly incredible for the trans rep it has though, especially for 20 years ago. At work, we used to get the discounted NetJets subscriptions (still like $15k) from Costco because it was a crazy good deal and we would charter flights for some emergency issues where it made financial sense to use a private/charter flight to get on-site faster because the issue is costing $20-50k/minute of downtime.

Sure, your average person isn't taking advantage of those deals, but someone does or else Costco wouldn't offer them.

It doesn't accomplish nothing. It chips away at the image of him as a strongman, which is one of the things his supporters care about the most. It's obviously not going to solve the problem, but those small victories do matter and help keep morale up when things feel otherwise hopeless. The key is to keep pushing and pushing in any and every way possible.

AGM are absolutely awful compared to even the absolute worst lithium batteries, and won't last long at all if regularly cycled below even 50% SoC. LFP chemistries are a bit worse for energy density compared to NCA/NCM chemistries, but they don't contain any nickel or cobalt, and won't autoignite in the same way other chemistries will. Absolutely ridiculous they're suggesting lead batteries over better lithium options.
