To contribute to the discussion, I bought an old PopCap game called Insaniquarium recently for around 60c, but there a demo version if you want to try it.

It isn't just nostalgia; The game is actually still fun after all these years.

Someone from the review section burned 1800+hrs on it, which I think is actually insane.

If walang blackout, there wouldn't have been concessions by the admins regarding accessibility features for the impaired or promises of fast tracking mod tools. Or at least that's what I've heard.

Of course all of these promises hinge on trusting reddit to follow through. At this point, a significant amount of good will has already been lost. It's tough to win it back, if they're even interested to do so.

The point is to still have a PH community for people who have lost trust in reddit and are trying to wean off of the platform. It's going to take a while, but we have to start somewhere, right?

I'm really hoping that Lemmy becomes a viable alternative/replacement in the long run. It's so much easier migrating from instances when they turn bad vs. migrating from entire platforms, because at this point it seems pretty clear that when it comes to platforms turning sideways, it's not a matter of if anymore, but when.

I vaguely remember watching a lot of shows in the 90s that had a quicksand scene and it seemed really terrifying.

Took me growing up a little to realize that quicksand isn't something I should expect to encounter on a daily basis.

Actually putting in effort to connect with people.

I used to be extremely shy, and this manifested in me not contributing much to conversations and sometimes looking a little bit standoffish in my body language.

I still am very shy, but I've since learned to work past the initial discomfort of shyness and be active in conversations, or at least make an effort to show other people that I am interested in what they want to say.

I've made a lot of friends I wouldn't have had I not worked on this part of myself. I only regret not trying earlier.

I'm not sure if this answer is in the spirit of the question, but that's the first thing that came to mind.

I've also been waiting for updates on regional pricing for Ultra. I want to support the dev, but can't justify the price for what is essentially about 10 days worth minimum wage in my country.

I've read about the error code 7 issue before from this forum and it seems to be related to the BW backend temp blocking IP ranges when it triggers "unusual activity" flags, whatever that means for them.

Switching IP addresses is a potential solution, either from a router reset or via choosing a different endpoint via VPN. Or just waiting for the temp block to be released, but who knows how long a wait that's going to be.

On one hand, I can see how their current solution has potentially saved a ton of accounts from being compromised. On the other, it really prevents the application from it's intended use for most people who don't have VPN or don't have any control over the public IP they're connected to.

I'm worried too about when this issue hits me, so I'm tempted now to self-host a private BW backend instance. But that's a whole slew of things that I really don't want to have to manage.

Yeah, I hated commuting too.

Almost a decade ago, I decided I didn't want to spend at least 20 hours every week of my life anymore on commutes and preparing for them. So I moved out of the house and lived in places where I can walk to and from work.

It's one of the better decisions I've made in my life. That's roughly 400 full 24-hour days I didn't have to spend on the road and the downsides that came with it.

There is that aspect concerning spez's defamatory public remarks against the Apollo dev. I'm sure they can work that angle if Christian was inclined to do so. But I also don't think he will, unless Steve unwisely makes another non-PR/lawyer cleared statement.
