🔥 Impressive video: A Ukrainian MICH-2000 long-range strike drone overcame Russian air defenses during today’s attack on Moscow, reaching and striking the Moscow Oil Refinery grounds.

A few months ago, I joined the lemmy platform and made my account here on lemmy.world. One of the first things I searched for was a community of my hometown, Bern. I was happy to find one and subscribed successfully (seemingly) : https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]

Soon I noticed that not much is going on there and I tried to activate life there by making a few posts. I got a few votes, but no comments. This didn't trouble me too much; I just thought that there were just very few users in this community and that those were very passive. I kept on making posts of which I hoped that they could be motivating people to get into active communication, or to subscribe, if some non-member found this community.

Today I tried to subscribe to this community from piefed.social. I wanted to demonstrate a friend the interoperability of the two services lemmy and piefed. I couldn't find the Bern community, though.

Then I realized that the whole instance of the Bern community (feddit.ch) had been shut over 2 years ago! I tried to dig deeper into this, and finally found this post announcing the shutdown of the instance : https://lemmy.world/post/12995344https://lemmy.world/post/12995344

So my question is: is this community still alive and real? Or is it some zombie copy that I posted into, but it doesn't really live or it's not really visible or accessible to users on other instances, or maybe even on this instance? If so, shouldn't it be eliminated somehow?

There is a new fediverse service.

Saw it here: https://vger.to/retrolemmy.com/post/42268635

FediHood is a Fediverse platform for talking with the people around you, by topic.

So far I use: Matrix, Friendica, Lemmy, PieFed. I also follow 1 or 2 persons on Mastodon, using Friendica.

I want to try vutuv now. Maybe in the future some more services.

Now I wonder if I should really register a new account for each service. May I ask for your advice? What do you recommend?

If I understand it right, the moderator of the mastodon.world instance has blocked several posts by Hasnain Kazim, as Kazim reported yesterday on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/661473263/posts/10163657720033264/

Kazim is a quite famous and successful book author in Germany and something between left, conservative and liberal. He was journalist for the most important German weekly news magazine Spiegel. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasnain_Kazim?wprov=sfla1

Canceling his posts is stupid and certainly completely exaggerated. To me from the external perspective it seems that the moderator is abusing his power. He is damaging free and respectful discussion. Furthermore, when a famous person like Kazim reports those experiences to his broad audience, who do not understand the functioning of the fediverse, the moderator also damages Mastodon in general significantly, it seems to me.

What do you think about this case ?

Was sind eure Gedanken?

Hallo; Newbie here. Trying Matrix and Lemmy ATM. I have 2 questions. First: Should I ask questions regarding using the Matrix or Element here in this community ([email protected]), or in which other community on Lemmy?

The best German language motivation/explanation video for Matrix I know is the following by Morpheus (no pun intended): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGv5zUwYX_k&t=1207

Anybody knows something even better, or maybe not better in general but more directed at non-technical people? (Like, mentioning UI features prominently and not only security stuff... )

Photo because Voyager app forces me to supply one:

Hallo, liest hier noch jemand aktiv? Die letzten Posts sind ziemlich alt.
