Less is more - My pedalboard september 2026 (french indie rock)

I shrinked my pedalboard from 11 or 12 pedals to only 6 pedals!

What I learned after a few gigs with my band:

  • Only use pedals you really need for your songs, don't add pedals because you think you could have a use for it in the future.
  • Behringer Vintage Phaser is such a great pedal, great vintage tones!
  • I'm impressed by the T.Rex Chorus/Flanger pedal, very precise settings and beautifull sounds
  • The Joyo Uzi is really great with all the settings available to shape the sounds and the "bites" of the distorsion
  • I tried several Tremolo effects, I always come back to the Behringer Ultra Tremolo, even if it's a very cheap pedal, it does the job!

How to configure Navidrome, easy step-by-step install?

Hey there! Happy Ubuntu user here, from France.

I listen to a lot of music every day and my collection is in a cloud. I access it with the WebDAV protocole, with a rclone command at startup. So the collection appears in Nautilus and accessible.

I'm trying the Navidrome server these days and I enjoy the general look & feel and the clients available (especially Noctune and Gelly).

But the configuration of Navidrome is quite... complicated. I find the explanations on their website quite minimalist, or maybe just oriented to developpers and tech savy people.

My main hesitation is with the user rights of the app. AFAIK, there's an admin user "navidrome" that needs to be created, and then the user itself?

The location(s) of the config file is a mess too. I choose to put everything related to Navidrome in my /home/[user]/.config/navidrome folder (but I still see some files related to Navidrome in my /home/[user] folder... ?

I searched for a while but couldn't find a clear and as simple as possible tutorial about the installation... Any hint?

Gnome desktop looks pretty good (yet simple)

This is my Gnome desktop right now. Nothing too fancy, just the usual Gnome 49 with extensions (Blur my shell, AutoAccentColour, System Monitor, etc.), a Win11 inspired background and two apps running (Vivaldi browser playing a Youtube video and Kew music player in a terminal).

I play around with configs and add-ons from time to time but i ALWAYS move back to this Gnome designed desktop and it fits my needs.

Roast my (quite cheap) pedalboard

Amateur guitarist here, posting from Paris, France.

My initial intention was to reduce my pedalboard to very few essential effects pedals... Finally I'm adding some new ones... so I ended up with 11 pedals (starting with 8 ones).

Brands are Kokko, Ammoon, Behringer, TC Electronics, Dunlop, Mooer, Ibanez.

Chained like this: Comp > Wah > Overdrive > Distortion > Fuzz > Phaser > Tremolo > Mods (chorus/Vibrato/Rotary) > Delay > Reverb > Looper

Some updates:

I'm playing pop rock and hard rock songs in a four piece band, with some "space rock" bits here and there.

The looper is essentialy a training device when I'm alone at home. This model allows for a Reverse effet and I intend to use it live when I'm comfy with it.

The Kokko Space is a really nice reverb for the cheap price, cranked up to max it produces a very cool and subtle dreamy/spacy effect.

The Behringer Vintage Phaser is the best phaser I could test (and I tested a lot of cheap phasers...). It's very smooth and creamy, and doesn't boost the signal when switched on (more expansive pedals tend to do it...).

Any comment?
